Dave Roberts to retire?
Contract be damned, Dave Roberts is still at the top of my list of Giants I would like to have a beer with.

If your definition of retiring is that nobody wants you anymore, then Dave Roberts is retiring. Still, he’s a good guy, so I wish him well as the Giants pay him 6.5 million dollars to sit around the house.

They say some players get out of bed hitting; Pablo Sandoval doesn't wait that long

Roberts… isn’t he that guy that drank that beer that one time?
Fred Lewis can stand under my umbrella.

Does a guy like Roberts order Kirin or Colt 45?

He’ll be a great broadcaster if he chooses that path. Please, ESPN, hire him to take over for Joe Morgan immediately!

I feel bad for Jon Miller having to deal with Phillips as well.

more likely he’ll have a glass of wine with you.
He and his wife, Tricia, are in the process of making their own wine. It’ll be a Cabernet using grapes sourced from Napa and Sonoma. He plans to produce around 200 cases. No label concept yet, but he said it’ll "be something to do with baseball, and it won’t be cheesy."

Since he's retiring, does that mean the Giants are off the hook for his salary?
Or does it no matter, since they released him?

It doesn’t matter.

I think they still owe him the money. Had he retired before he got released, I believe the Giants would be off the hook. Then again, what I said could be bullshit.
