Giants v. Brewers on KNBR. Jonathan Sanchez is back. If he doesn't pitch a complete game, I will blame the World Baseball Classic for monkeying around with his stamina.

Well the Perdomo roster spot is a guess that Giants brass returns Rule 5 guy back to Cardinals.

Who fills those spots?

Yeah, Devon White was a fine defensive center fielder. But you were comparing them as hitters, I thought. I’d love to see Lewis match WHite’s glove.

love to see him match both his bat, speed, glove etc

by wilriv21 on Mar 22, 2009 1:57 PM PDT up reply actions

My point is, as a hitter Devon White seems like a low standard for Lewis to reach. Last year, Lewis already surpassed White in batting average (.282 to White’s career .263), OBP (.351 to White’s .319), AND SLG (.440 to White’s .419).

Of course, comparing one season to a long career isn’t quite fair, but even in his best seasons, White was barely a better hitter than Lewis already is.

If I recall, it was in the context of Ishikawa’s defense, and how you can tell he’s a good first baseman because he’s not afraid to dive and leave his feet. Or maybe it came when he was talking about how having good defense up the middle makes your pitching better. If the second, I suppose you could interpret it that way.

I’m with Shoeless. I think the team can’t go wrong with either, as long as Burriss is given constant at bats. He’s the 2B of the future I think, and whether he’s getting ABs in the majors or ABs in the minors in AAA I’d be happy. Frandsen can be a very good utility guy, playing 2B, 3B, SS, LF, RF.

Torres makes sense

The Giants will be choosing from the likes of Aurilia, Guzman, Uribe, Frandsen, Velez, Schierholtz and Torres. Schierholtz is the only LHH in the bunch. Velez and Torres are switch-hitters the rest RHH.

That leaves Bochy with about the only option of using Schierholtz when he wants a LHH off the bench. Torres is still available for late inning defensive replacement, pinch-run for BMoney or can use him to pinch-hit.

I suspect he’ll get a shot at some point, like Bowker, Timpner and Horwitz did last year.

I wonder if he’s adopted. Or I hope I get him in our draft if it ever does happen.

I think he is.

I was thinking of grabbing Edwin Quirarte, but there’s the whole question of whether there’ll be a draft to redo it all.

I want to do it, just because there are some dead members. Perhaps next week I’ll have some time to since it’s spring break.

good thing this was an exhibition game. I’d be breaking stuff right now after having an 8-0 lead

I remember one game back in the mid-to-late 90s where the Giants blew a lead at least that big during the regular season against the Expos. It was pretty painful.

I think they once blew a 5-0 lead in a world series clinching game, didn’t they?

there is some speculation that had they finished the world series in ’02 this would have been possible.

alas, we will never know.

Earlier in the game

Jon Miller said after one inning was over “Dave Roberts will lead off, who hit a home run in the 1st inning…” rather then Brian Roberts. He corrected himself at the end.

I guess Japan would be the Dodgers since they gave Tommy LaSorda some sort of award.

Still in despair.
