Monday's cuts
Per Schulman: In other news, the Giants made six cuts today, with no surprises. Pitchers Jesse English and Henry Sosa, and infielder Conor Gillaspie, were optioned. Catcher Eli Whiteside and infielders Matt Downs and Jake Wald were reassigned to the minor-league camp.
Personally, I'm a little surprised to see English go down after 3 innings pitched. I guess despite his spot on the 40 man roster, the Giants never considered him for a spot out coming out of spring training. I still think we might see some English in the season after someone in the bullpen wears out their welcome (I'm looking at you, Special Agent).

Where should we expect to see Gillaspie start this year? San Jose? If so, that is going to be one hell of a team! Correct me if I’m wrong on any of these, but…
1B: AnVil
2B: Noonan
3B: Gillaspie
C: Posey
SP: MadBum

Yes, in San Jose
Relevant details, since the link in the FanShot doesn’t work:
Club officials are planning to send all five of the Giants’ top-rated prospects, and six of the top seven, to begin the season at Class A San Jose. The list includes pitchers Madison Bumgarner and Tim Alderson, catcher Buster Posey, first baseman Angel Villalona and second baseman Nick Noonan. Other members of last year’s strong draft class are expected to join Posey in San Jose, including third baseman Conor Gillaspie, right fielder Roger Kieschnick and shortstop Brandon Crawford.
San Jose is going to be the minor league place to be, at least at the beginning of the year.

Are you expecting Schoop back in SJ?
Or saying that he was just reassigned?
Schoop spent all last year at SJ. He didn’t exactly tear up the league but I’m guessing they move him up (and move up Culberson to play SS in San Jose – after his abysmal April, Culberson hit decently the rest of last year).

I think Crawford is going to be the SS at San Jose.

Did they say what level English was optioned to? When Misch was optioned they listed him with AAA.
"While conservatives tell you 'leave things alone and no one will lose,' and liberals tell you 'interfere a lot and no one will lose,' baseball says 'someone will lose.' Not only says it - but insists upon it! ... Democracy is lovely, but baseball's more mature." BVCE supports SF Dugout and Manny Burriss.
