I remember watching a game on tv after the Rockies traded Neifi. Juan Uribe had taken over for him.

“A lot of Rockies fans were really upset they traded Neifi,” the announcer said. “But in retrospect, it may have been a smart move. Word is, the Rockies front office thinks Juan Uribe may be even better.”

The Return of The Kids

From Hank:

There’s an interesting story here. For years, the Giants were under the assumption that once they optioned a player to the minors during spring training they could not use him in a major-league exhibition game.

It turns out they can. The only risk is, if the player gets injured he has to be paid his major-league salary, $400,000 and change, or about twice as much as his minor-league pay. Also up from the minors again are pitchers Tim Alderson and Madison Bumgarner.

by xanthan on Mar 17, 2009 1:55 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yup. ESRI’s Arc packages. I actually was doing some CAD stuff and sent out a bunch of resumes to anyone accepting while going to school. An environmental consultant hired me without me knowing what that actually was. While here I just learned any software being used that looked interesting, which obviously included ESRI.

I’m relying on Bob Uecker’s play-by-play, so your guess is as good as mine. The way he called it, it seemed to be a forgone conclusion once the ball reached the wall, so I’m guessing there was a defensive fuckup somewhere.
