Spring Training

I went to my first ever spring training game on Sunday against the Royals.  The fact that it was my first ever is quite disappointing considering I am almost 23 years old but when I was a kid my mother didn't like to fly so we often did not venture far from are Northern California home.  The whole experience was very surreal and the game seemed to have a very strange but satisfying vibe.  I was able to sit close because my girlfriend is really great and would not let me be cheap, so the whole time I was right next to the action.  It was really cool being right next to the players and even getting to interact with a few.  I really had a bit of trouble putting it all into context when describing to a friend later what it was like to be at my first spring training game later on in the night.  It kind of took me back made me feel like I did when I first started watching baseball as a child.  Anyway I really wanted to know how everyone felt at there first spring training game, as well as just there first professional game in general and thought that these topics might be worth bringing up even if they had been in the past.

Also just wanted to give a few short musings/reactions from the game.  Jack taschner is really really nice he signed autographs for like 40 minutes before the game even though he was trying to talk to two friends in the stands and kept getting interupted.  He also is apparently expecting a child in May.  Pablo Sandoval looks pretty athletic (or at least more than I would expect) on defense but seems to have trouble bringing ball from the glove to his throwing hand.  There were four minor leaguers sitting behind me for a bit but unfortunately I did not recognize them.  From what I overheard it sounded like two of them split time at salem and augusta last year (not sure if many people do that do not know the system like the rest of you), one of them was ripping the giants when the Royals were on a Rally.  One of the other three said he played at san jose last year, is 23 years old, and used to room with manny burriss I think at Salem.  I talked to Manny about it after the game and I think that is why he stopped to sign my ball.  Finally I also sat next to Roberto Kellys kids, they were cute kids.  The youngest one likes baseball and plays first base, the older one said he doesn't play too much baseball.  Sorry for the long winded post just wanted to share a little, feel free to ignore any or all of the post!

As I ask with every one of these

Who’s the father?

"While conservatives tell you 'leave things alone and no one will lose,' and liberals tell you 'interfere a lot and no one will lose,' baseball says 'someone will lose.' Not only says it - but insists upon it! ... Democracy is lovely, but baseball's more mature." BVCE supports SF Dugout and Manny Burriss.

I don't care about Spring Training

But I’m glad this Fanpost is here because it got rid of the steroid discussion off the front page of the recent fanposts section.

Jack Taschner is probably the nicest guy on the Giants.

I'm spent, just can't rosterbate anymore.

If he was really nice he’d put us all out of our misery and throw strikes every once in a while.

He doesn’t want to hurt the batters’ feelings.

Adoptive father to the All-Father. Does that make me the All-Grandfather?
