Lincecum signs $650k contract
The Giants and Tim Lincecum have reached agreement on a one-year, $650,000 contract, a source told The Chronicle. Lincecum then confirmed the figure. That constitutes a 62 percent raise over the $405,000 he earned last year. There is actually a split component to the deal. If Lincecum somehow wound up in the minors, he'd be paid at an annual rate of $243,000.

very nice
I’m no contract expert, but that seems cheap for a Cy-Young winner, even if it’s years before he hits arbitration.
STEVE HOLM! refuses to be the odd man out.
Lincecum should be eligible for salary arbitration after this season and could see an exponential hike in pay if he has another good season.
Am I missing something here?
They say you're a pitcher; you sure aren't much of a dresser.
What I mean is, I thought players needed three full years of service to be arb eligible, but I suppose that Lince would qualify as a Super 2:
(2) The top 17 percent of players with at least 2 but less than 3 years of Major League service. These are known as "Super 2" players. To qualify as a Super 2, a player must have accumulated at least 86 days of service in the previous year. Historically, the cutoff point for Super 2 status is 2 years, 128 days of service, though the requirement has been as high as 2 years, 140 days in years past.

Tim would qualify as a “Super 2” and thus be eligible for arbitration after his second season.

I think it’s a safe bet that Tim will be in the top 17 percent…

Are you sure...?
I think $650K would buy a lot of Pringles and Kraft Macaroni and Cheese.

Don't forget
When players aren’t married, often the “family” they have to “take care of” is their parents. It’s always for someone else!

Arbitration eligble years
Doesn’t it seem like a team’s best shot to get a good price on arbitration-eligible years is an extention in advance of those years arriving? ISTR that’s what Beane did occasionally.
I dunno, this seems like a waste of an opportunity to me.
