Um, I'm sure this post is going to jinx my access to MLB Network, but the Giants first cactus league game is going to be covered live. Yes!

Don't think, it could only hurt the ballclub.

Just in case ResDog’s comment wasn’t clear, the game is on Wednesday.

It’s ok, there is apparently a lot of drug use going on around here.

I wish I had MLB Network

I guess the radio will have to do.

Does anyone know if Comcast will have the MLB Network in HD?

I’m on Comcast and my MLB Network is not in HD. Boo.

The ticker on the bottom of the screen recommended that I order MLB in HD TODAY!

Wait, I live in Walnut Creek....

what level of Comcast do you need to get MLB Network? My cable is supposed to be getting set-up between 8-11am on Wednesday and this would be an awesome first program to watch!

I’d assume that you’ll need the sports package to get MLB Network.

It just showed up on my plan. I don’t have anything special. Channel 412.

I believe part of the deal that brought Extra Innings to cable last season was that the cable companies had to offer the MLB channel as part of the basic digital package.

So if you have digital cable, you have the MLB channel.

Not true. I’ve got digital cable and I don’t have the MLB Channel. Comcast doesn’t have the MLB Channel on their website, but you at least need to get more than just the standard channels (I’m calling standard what I get, 2-80s plus a few various stragglers).

8-11am

this means you wont be able to watch the game. Sorry, not with COMCAST.

I figure it won't be done on time

but at least I’ll have the radio as a fall back plan. I’m optimistic that I’ll be able to catch part of it at least.

I know right? My last temp job ended a few days before the Carribean Series was broadcast on the channel and now I can watch this too. Something good is coming from being an out-of-work bum.

happy to be the messenger on this one

but there is one strange detail to add: there is a tape-delayed game between the Tribe and the Snakes being broadcast the following day (26th), and the listing says that it is “subject to blackout restrictions”. Could this be because it is the Dbacks, and they’re playing in AZ. Seems very odd. Anyway, it doesn’t say this for our game.

As far as I understand, I have Comcast’s “limited basic” cable, plus the “digital classic” add-on. Right now, however, I also get everything in “expanded basic”, as well as the MLB Network and bunch of Encore movie channels. I assumed that this was a preview-type thing, but it’s been since Jan.1. If this continues through the summer, I will never get any work done.

Ex-Giants on your television too

According to Baggs in the Murc: “Former Giants Vinnie Chulk and Matt Herges are among the Cleveland pitchers scheduled to take the mound Wednesday.”

I was in the mood for punishment

So I watched MLB Network Monday at 11PM with the 2002 World Series highlights. Never seen it before. The highlights had Duane Kuiper’s broadcast for the home games. I was with it until the fictional game 6 when the announcer said “8 outs from winning it all” with a scene of the trophy in the Giants locker room.

by SFGuy on Feb 24, 2009 1:11 AM PST reply actions

AFAIK, there was not a World Series in 2002.

We watched it too...
  • Did we really score 16 runs in game 5?
  • Did Tom Goodwin actually pinch hit in game 7?
  • Did we really drink two bottles of wine in the 15 minutes it took to show games 6 and 7?
  • It was fun to relive, and hard to watch at the same time. Seems so many players ago.
And Craig Ferguson was really funny afterward.
