dallas mcpherson
all of the crede hype, which turned into beltre discussions, which morphed into marte mania. how about taking a shot at a powerfull left-handed bat, who led the minors in dingerz last year ? a former top prospect in the angels organization, looks to have finally put his back issues behind him at the age of 28. i know, he's always struck out a bunch, i got it, but who else on the giants has 30 hr potential ?
mcpherson is in camp with the marlins now. he's out of options, and blocked at first and 3rd by cantu and rookie 1b gabby sanchez. this http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/baseball/marlins/sfl-mar022209,0,63446.story article suggests he's had a great off season workout program , and wants to have a hull time gig.
do we want him ? what would it take to get him ?

If the Giants wanted him, they would have picked him up last year. McPherson did lead the minors in homers, but it was in a very HR friendly park. If he were free, I wouldn’t mind taking a chance on him, but he’s not worth trading for.

agreed
except last year there was no indication he was healthy. he proved his health, he’s cheap (salary wise), and has a better glove than what we have now.

Meh.
I’ll take the 25 year old for free over the 28 year old for a cost.

I don’t mind the rosterbation in general, but to dredge up the Dallas McPherson talk is pretty nauseating.

if you guys are bored to death of proposals like this, the title of the post should have been a pretty damned big sign for you not to click on it. what did you think the post was going to be about? i agree that it is an overdone topic that has been well covered here, so why not just let those who would like to revisit it have a chance and leave it alone?
you don’t have to read it just because someone posted it…so stop acting like you do

Can we make a flow chart?
To describe the marginal corner infielders that have drawn interest from members here this off season?
I think it would go something like this:
Blalock —> Edwin Encarnacion —> Cantu —> Marte —> McPherson
/ DO NOT WANT, EVEN WITH DINGERZ
Which other marginal corner infielders did I miss?
Aaron King is still my homeboy... iffy mechanics and all
If Dustin Pedroia played in Seattle, not many people would be talking about him.
