It only seems jumbled to a moron like Jeff pASSan. AnVil and Mad Bum and Nick Noonan aren’t ready to roam the fields of AT&T Park and thus, until they are, someone has to play. that’s why the Giants signed some veterans to short term (1-2 years) deals so they might plug up some immediate holes (TWSS). They didn’t sign these guys to 4-5 year deals because they’d become albatrosses (we already have 2 too many) and block the young guys when they are ready. that strategy is ENTIRELY CONSISTENT with going with the youth movement, especially when all the youth isn’t quite ripe yet. Plus, two of the guys are bullpen guys. The Giants only have about $52million committed to 2010 (at this moment), so there’s no reason that these offseason moves will deter further building from within and, more importantly, locking up some of these young guys to longer term deals.
