According to Baggs, Sabean said the organization may revisit giving Posey a shot at the beginning of 2010. He's apparently worried the Pudge signing will mean the free agent catchers will demand more than he's willing to give.

Could be good news for the Give Posey a Chance crowd.

Thank Goodness

I would be happy with Posey getting about 65% of the starts, which adds up to about 105 games. Next in line is to make Bowker a starter.

I would be happy with giving Posey as many starts as his stamina is willing to give us. Buster ’10!

I don't know about that, to the groin.

Yeah thats true

I was figuring he’d get tired around game 105. If he keeps hitting leave him in the line up.

by Gobroks on Dec 8, 2009 11:24 PM PST up reply actions

He’s not ready to catch 100 games in the big leagues.

by WTF on Dec 9, 2009 9:39 AM PST up reply actions

He caught 104 games last season? What about the big leagues makes him not able to do that again?

I don't know about that, to the groin.

Probably.

Ha, there’s a frandsen mention at the end of the article. I don’t know why the organization bothers to keep him at all when they seem to have given up on him completely.

Its a damn shame

because having him as the Utility guy would be so much better than Rohlinger.

by Gobroks on Dec 8, 2009 11:19 PM PST up reply actions

Why is Frandsen better than Rohlinger?

I think Frandsen is a much better hitter, and can play more positions (LF in a pinch). Rohlinger is better defensively but i’d take Frandsen. Plus I like Frandsen’s story and he’s a personal favorite of mine.

It think this is more likely a comment to the free agent catchers that we aren’t going to give them Rodriguez numbers otherwise we’ll go with Posey. I don’t forsee it being a huge issue as there are a number of catching options and there are other catchers who signed much cheaper to point to.

I like to think that the giants will still pick up another catcher, but the decision as to who starts on opening day will be more up in the air.

by fantastical on Dec 9, 2009 1:55 AM PST up reply actions

Decisions with us are often up in the air because we seem to put a lot of stock in small samples and spring training.
