OT: Open "SF Panorama" Discussion Thread
I'm aware this was already brought up briefly before by multiphasic on Natto's post. It's A 320-page broadsheet, full-color "newspaper" from McSweeny's - the distinguished literary journal run by author Dave Eggers. Since I know a handful of people here are actual journalists/graphic designers, and most of us are wannabes, I thought people might want to talk about it. By the way, it features writing from Eggers, Stephen King, Michael Chabon, Roddy Doyle, Daniel Alarcón, and comics from Art Spiegelman. I'm waiting on my copy to come here in Boston.

Yeah, it came out today. In a weird pricing scheme, if you get it today, it’s 5 dollars. Any other day, and it’s 16. Still, I’m more than willing to pay that.

I think you actually have to go up to a vendor on the street in the Bay Area today to get that price. There’s supposed to be like 30 people set up in different places, as well as a bunch of bookstores. I think there’s a Google map w/ their locations, but, frankly, it might not be worth your while.

Should have been delivered to my house yesterday via the Chronicle. Unfortunately, I’m out of the country, so I’m hoping some thieving hipster doesn’t snag it.
The only thing I’m really wishing for, which I haven’t seen mentioned in the promotional material, is some awesome crosswords. I’d love to do an Eggers / Chabon authored crossword.
I see Michelle Tea is included—when I first moved to the Mission I devoured a couple of her books which are set in the hood.
Check out Valencia and Rent Girl if youre into lesbians in search of love, drugs, and understanding. I haven’t read any of her more recent stuff.
