Christmasy Cain is Christmasy

For a few years back in the early part of the decade, I'd make a Christmas ornament for my grandmother's tree. Subjects included the Galileo space probe and the Apollo 8 spacecraft. I fell out of the habit a few years ago, but decided this year to revive the tradition. I figured I could honor my favorite Giant in the process.

This is a scanned image, so it's not as sharp as I'd like it to be. I could never get the photos of it on the tree to turn out quite right. I'm pleased as punch nonetheless.

Pretty low-tech stuff. I printed a high-res picture of Matt and drew a little Santa hat to scale. I glued it where his cap would normally be and glued the ornament hook behind that. Then, I drew the ribbony thing, colored and inked it, glued that on and bingo-bango: instant Christmas cheer.

Is that man ever is a bad mood? Even when they make him stand next to a clip art Christmas tree inside a giant green glass orb, he’s still got that optimism. Good for him!
