Wondering how the Giants are doing in the winters leagues? Follow them all at the link... all the strong performances so far are by guys playing 1b (Pablo, Pill, Jesus).

and they also are playing in the offensively friendly Venezuela League. The Puerto Rican Winter League has been more pitcher friendly so it is nice to see Nate The Great doing well.

It's too bad Bowker bailed

Would’ve been nice to see him doing well also.

Insanity is just a state of mind.

Agree

Wonder how much Bowker’s decision to bail on winter league will have on his evaluation. Was hoping Bowker would have a breakout season in 2010

Pretty sure his evaluation will depend far more on his success at spring training.

That stood out to me as well

He did it in only 74 ab’s too

I'm loving Nate's OBP.

Hopefully plate discipline is something that can carry over to the bigs.

Desirous of Matt Holliday and Dan Uggla since 2009.

Schierholtz has managed to draw two unintentional walks in 13 games.

Huh

Yeah, looking back over the numbers, it seems like most of the OBP increase is pretty much based on an increase in BA.

Sigh. Ok, hopefully he can hack better. It’s OK to be a hacker if you’re damn good at it, and his SLG numbers are higher than pablo’s in winterball.

Brett Pill...

Is he highly regarded at all? He has 5 hr’s in 57 at bats and his numbers in AA last year were pretty solid across the board. I’ve never heard of him though so if anyone can provide some insight that would be appreciated

Short answer, no

Longer answer, he’s at least mildly interesting. His bat is light for 1B, mostly due to his subpar walk rate, but he’s got a great glove. He’s also old for his level, but if he could take another big step forward at AAA, maybe he’d be useful.

Juan Carlos Perez, please start hitting.
