Eastern League MVP (almost)
After reading countless comments here over the years to the effect of “Let’s see if xyz can do it in the upper minors before we get excited” I think it’s time to give some credit to someone who has actually delivered in AA. It doesn’t bother me to hear him described as a poor man’s Ishikawa all that much because I think Ishikawa is continuing to progress and is currently underrated by most of the Coven.

Ishikawa in underrated?
How so?

Whomever Sabean signs this off-season will make a good platoon partner with Ryan Gark-ohh... nevermind...
is this the 1st time Guzman has been on the list?

'bout damn time!
I felt like a little league dad pleading for my son to get a chance
But seriously, folks, he may not have the highest upside in the world, but along with Posey, he represents the closest thing we have to MLB-ready bats. That ought to count for something on a team starving for offense.
Case rested
"We're in this thing!" My adopted Giant: "Raptor Jesus" Guzman, "Sweet Jesus" Guzman and Jesus H. Guzman.
I don’t understand how his defense can possibly be so bad, even at 1b. If he can hit a baseball, shouldn’t he have the coordination to catch one as well?

…all the cool kids are voting for Ford. Pass it on!
Officially disinterested in any high school outfielders from the state of Mississippi.
Proud adoptive parent of Sergio Romo. Looking forward to adopting Justin Smoak.
Well I dont care what you guys think

Hoping for BowkerMania to hit AT&T Park in 2010
Is there anywhere to get stats on Graham? I don’t like to vote for someone else when I don’t know what he’s done.
High school pitcher, just drafted
So, not really. You can read some stuff about him here.
Juan Carlos Perez, please start hitting.
pretty much

Yup.
Hector Sanchez: Underrated. Fighting body bias since the 2009 off season. I still love you, son, even if you're fat.
Ford or Tanner. Meh.
Joe Martinez: You are cool.
When it's all said and done, America will be remembered for three things: The Bill of Rights, jazz, and baseball.
quick thoughts on the candidates!
Bond: His upside is Skip Schumaker, and that’s a longshot.
Bucardo: The K rate isn’t great and the fastball isn’t fast, but smart people say he’s got potential, so okay.
Casilla: Reportedly has great stuff, but has had arm problems.
Dominguez: I’m ranking him as a prospective pitcher, basically. Yes, he can hit home runs, but as one of the oldest players in his league, he struck out 64 times and walked 9 in 195 at-bats.
Ford: His year looks a lot like the year Rajai Davis had in high-A at the same age. Except for all the strikeouts.
Graham: A classic Texas high-school power arm. Needs a lot of work.
Guzman: Looks like a slugger in this organization, but an 886 OPS in the PCL is nothing special, especially for a weak-fielding first baseman. Turns 26 next season.
Pill: A poor man’s Travis Ishikawa. Woo-hoo!
Rohlinger: You could make a case that he’s the best in-house candidate to be the starting shortstop for the Giants next year. But that doesn’t make him a prospect.
Sosa: Terrible at AA, but maybe it was just an off-year. I assume he’ll be a reliever next year.
Tanner: A lefty Kevin Pucetas? A poor man’s Scott Barnes? Not sure what people see in him.
Conclusion: all of the pitchers are better prospects than any of the hitters. I’m going Graham, Casilla, Bucardo.
Jesus raptor
Matt Cain: throwing complete game shutouts since 06'. No big deal.

Bucardo then Casilla for me. I don’t have to think any further out than that because we’ll be at 30 by the time I get them both voted in.
My Bucardo is better than yours.
A hot August weekday, before a small crowd, when the only thing at stake is the tissue-thin difference between a thing done well and a thing done ill. Insofar as the clutch hitter is not a sportswriter's myth, it is a vulgarity, like a writer who writes only for money.
Bucardo, again
Giant Dirtbags: John Bowker, Steve Hammond. MIA List: Todd Jennings, Brian Anderson

everyone here has their cons so
I’ll go with Casilla. He got my attention last year, so I’m going to vote for him without backing it up at all.
Since if I think about it too much , or am influenced by other people’s comments, then I might change my mind. And at this point they’re all basically crap shots and interchangeable players at this point, so might as well just pick personal favorites
Although theirs is definitely talent here, anyone of these players could break out with a great year or totally crash and burn, and we wouldn’t be to surprised either way.
Tanner
On the "Brian Sabean should be fired" bandwagon
I want winners...and Eric Berry
Can anyone explain why Tanner is leading the voting, and Bucardo is in second
but Craig Clark is not even on the poll?
Its funny because fuck the dodgers
I like Craig Clark
But he was 24 in A+. Tanner is 3 years younger, that is important.
Juan Carlos Perez, please start hitting.
Also
I was just noticing that Jose Casilla has been in the poll for a while but he’s still getting very few votes. Aside from his b-r profile, I for one don’t know anything about him. Anyone care to elaborate on his virtues or lack thereof?
"Why not trade Bumgarner for some banger stud?" - sfgiants.com commenter or online porn ad? You be the judge!
Adopted Giant: the probably soon to be ditched but still awesome Fred Lewis
It looks like he has a great sinker to go with (what i remember) being a low-to-mid 90’s fastball. He has good K/9 and K/BB numbers, but as Roger said last time, that might have a little to do with him coming out of the ‘pen. Hopefully next year they make him a starter, he’s supposedly got good stuff, and I’m crossing my fingers that he makes it up to AA this year, I’m kinda close to Richmond

bond got no traction
so lets put Matt Downs on the ballot. A year older than his former SJG teammate, and played 1 level higher, with flashy stats. Did not embarass self in the bigs, with a homer and 2 dbls in 53 ABs. Will turn 26 during spring training, that is older than anybody we’ve put on this list so far. But Downs did make it last year, around #22 i think
cheering for Adam Witter, who will hit bigleague dingers some day.
