Right-handed, decent power, has always killed the Giants. I'd certainly prefer him to spods.

Didn’t the Giants “kick the tires” on him at the trade deadline last year?

A Lewis/Hairston platoon would be pretty productive.

And would see exactly 0 games in the field next season

:-(

Lewis will be bolted to the bench (or released) and Hairston would probably be hurt!

But its still not a Velez/Torres spittoon platoon

Why is it so painful

to agree?

LOL me

For closing the tab that I had the reply I had been working on for about 15 minutes.

Anyway…. after hand-calculating my wOBA splits for both, roughly regressing both down because of sample size, adding in +8 for left field UZR, splitting playing time between the two as Fred 56%, Hairston 44%, and disregarding baserunning, I get their combined production at a conservative estimate of ~3.4-3.6 WAR over the whole season, with only the two splitting time in left field. Including baserunning, that platoon could easily be worth 4 WAR with a chance to be much higher (since I was conservative in all my estimations).

Sorry I don’t have the nuts and bolts anymore but xanthan closed my tab…

Playing both of them at the same time in each corner would be pretty productive, too.

Merkin Valdez? Manuel Mateo? A rose by any other name...

No thanks, we should be looking for a bigger upgrade. If we’re not getting a bigger upgrade then I’d take him but i wouldn’t give up anything worthwhile for him.

And there’s nothing to suggest they’re going to trade him anyway, just a thought given the strange decision by them to sign Crisp.

Because there are so many bigger upgrades still available...

Depends on the cost

If we can get him and/or Travis Buck from Oakland for very little then i’d do it but Sabean trading with Beane scares me.

IT'S A TARP

Brian Sabean strongly encourages you to disregard the drudgery of your employment responsibilities and join him in the consumption of spirituous libations.

Fuck no to Scott Hairston. That guys head makes BLB’s look shrunken.

Matt Cain: throwing complete game shutouts since 06'. No big deal.
