Giants agreed to terms w/Dominican 3B Duanel Jones. Number not completely confirmed but multiple sources have indicated its $1.3 million.

From Baseball Prospectus's Kiley McDaniel. Who is Duanel Jones? Seriously, you don't know? Wow. You've been living under a rock. Here's the Google search for Duanel Jones so you can catch up to the rest of us in the know.

Wait, all of the results link back to McDaniel's tweet. I'm not sure if I should be excited, but I'll assume that the $1.3M means it's like picking up a late first-round draft pick. Is it possible that the Giants decided not to offer Bengie Molina arbitration with one eye on trying to replace the phantom pick through international signing efforts?

Maybe, but that sort of pragmatism isn't something I'm used to, so I'll assume that Jones is 25 and he just swung at a slider in the dirt. That fits my preconceptions, and I didn't have enough coffee this morning to challenge any long-held beliefs

My friend played the cruelest Giants related joke on me.

He knew I was going to be on a plane today with my cell phone off. So he texted while I was in the air that the Giants signed RICHIE SEXSON. Got off the plane and scrambled to make sure this was in fact false. It’s sad that I even had to check

I know they’re thinking long term, but Halladay, Lee and Hamels would have been an amazing trio. Unless one or two of them get hurt the NL East would have been over.

2:13pm: A source tells Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com that a deal sending Uggla to the Giants is “not going down.”

Crasnick writes that the first obstacle would be financial. The Giants will have to give Tim Lincecum a major raise in arbitration and are already hamstrung by the contracts of Barry Zito and Aaron Rowand. Uggla is expected to make more than $7MM in 2010.

Sabean & Co. are also hesitant to part with Jonathan Sanchez, as his departure would leave the club with only three proven starters.
