Around SBN: The Gift Of The 2003 Tigers

The title speaks for itself. Posey and Bumgarner are 1-2 and Neal rounds out the top 6. Wheeler's getting some credit too.

I like that the only Dodger in the top ten is actually number ten. I also like that he’s almost 25.

No Edgar, it's not your fault, it's the fault of the idiot that plays you

Me neither, they have a serious man crush on Kevin Mulvey, one of the top 25 pitching prospects in baseball, lol no

Congrats to my soul mate and birth brother Zach Wheeler on being drafted into greatness. Should I just buy my Wheeler jersey now, or wait till my next birthday?

Mulvey

I’ve been big on Mulvey for years now. I think he’s a pretty good bet to turn into a no. 4-5 starter. At this point, there’s still a good chance that Matzek, Martin, Wheeler and Withrow never make starts in the majors.

Mulvey is a good ground-ball pitcher who doesn’t have multiple swing-and-miss offerings. He’s going to take some time to adjust, but I think he could someday surface as a no. 3 — and maybe even better starter.

I appreciate the link. And thanks to those of you who have taken the time to check out our work at Project Prospect.

As someone who attends a lot of San Jose Giants games and a few in SF each year, too, I’m excited to see the way the Giants are investing in player development.

Thanks for this, btw. I’m happy to see James Darnell ranked so highly – he was the 3B that I wanted the Giants to draft that year.

Thank you

I’m always in the mood to discuss Giants’ prospects :).

Rafael Rodriguez got some consideration for this list, too. He could be a monster breakout guy in 2010.

Hmmm...Kevin Mulvey?

I am not sure how a guy who was claimed off waivers this year by the D-Backs is a top ten prospect in the NL West and a better prospect than Tyler Matzek, but, hey, it’s not my list….

yeah

pretty sure e.martin, wheeler, withrow and matzek are all better prospects than mulvey

I’m glad we’re on the right side of that curve this time, unlike that speedy/powerful young centerfielder boat that we missed out on.
