Uh, Jack Cust?
So the Giants just non-tendered Ryan Garko, having therefore traded their third best pitching prospect for 100 at bats of nothing. But the A's just non-tendered Jack Cust. Hmmm. . . .
I'm a little interested. I don't think he'd be that expensive, and i think we're talking about a guy with a well-established skill set which happens to coincide with our team needs. Could also be that his troubles last year are the first sign of the beginning of the end. What think you all?

power hitters don't belong in at&t park
he will hit for low average strike out a lot and hit at most 15 hrs i would rather have Ishikawa or bowker

Your remark in bold puzzles me, but I will skip it.
I’m not so worried about Cust being able to hit the ball out of the Phone Booth. 11 of his 25 homers last year were to the left of CF, so it isn’t as though he’s a pull hitter. And it’s not like the Coliseum is an easy place to go deep. Yes, our park is tougher on lefties, but it’s actually easier overall. For a hitter like Cust, I wouldn’t expect the difference to be significant.
BLB never worried about it. That’s for god damn sure.

Yeah, as BigO alluded to, it’s more that left handed pull HR hitters don’t belong in our park. As for Cust, defense. Plain and simple. Gotta play it in the NL. None of that BS DH’ing going on over here.

power hitters don't belong in at&t park
I remember this being said about Candlestick in the 70s and 80s, after Mays, McCovey, Cepeda, Hart, BoBonds, and Haller demonstrated otherwise in the big strike zone 60s. Then along came WClark, Williams, BaBonds, Kent, and Aurillia. At AT&T, we’re not too far removed from BaBonds, Kent, Aurillia, and guys like Bell, Sanders, CruzJr, Durham, etc., who all managed 20 HRs while playing at AT&T.
Proud father of Barry Bonds.
guys like Albert Pujols and Prince fielder are a lot better than guys like Jack Cust
k and say he somehow manages 20 homeruns
Great now we have a 20 hr, strike out, low average, draw walks guy on our team that also cannot play the field
There are no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq Chuck Norris lives in Texas
that also cannot play the field
This is the most important point.

Jack Cust cannot play the OF.
If he can be something that resembles a defensive 1B, he might be an OK cheap solution at 1B. But really, it’s a crime against baseball to move him out of the AL.
I was promised lasagna.
Remember Jack Cust trying to play RF when the A’s came to town last year? Ugh.

His Fan Scouting Report is amazing
He’s the worst in the majors in like 4 different things.

The ball wasn’t really hit that far away from where he was positioned, yet Schierholtz scored. I think that tells a fair amount.
Please hit better, Randy Winn.

When it's all said and done, America will be remembered for three things: The Bill of Rights, jazz, and baseball.
If we want a one dimensional power hitter
why don’t we sign Mike Jacobs to a minor league deal
One year ago he hit 32 hrs and had 93 rbis in 477 abs
He just got released and he is cheaper than Cust, younger than Cust, and might have more power.
Just either give him a roster invite or a minor league deal

I think a better signing option is Felipe Lopez
guy hit above .300 last year and had a .383 obp and won’t cost any draft picks, could come cheap too
move Pablo to first
Sanchez to third
lopez to second

It’s sort of an inside joke between me and a few friends. One of my friends from Chicago is a big Cubs fan, and one day we were all making fun of him about how the Cubs sell stupid shirts like “I have a hard on for Harden” and one that says “Fuk u” on the front and "Dome"on the back. Naturally we started thinking of what the Giants equivalent would be, and the best thing we thought of was “lincecuminyourface.”
I thought it was funny but if alot of people find it offensive or anything I could change it

seems like an overstatement. Gomes may well be better suited to AT&T, but he hasn’t been the hitter that Cust has in his career. Gomes has also pretty inconsistent, though that may be due to lack of playing time. If UZR is a good indicator, they both seem to suck in the field.
I’ve watched enough A’s baseball over the last couple years to know Jack Cust sucks.
Adopted father of the prettiest player in the organization, Nestor Rojas.
Seriously, I’d like to help everyone with their rosterbation…
If you say something like this:
Sure he sucks, but he’d still be better than Velez!
That’s not a guy the Giants need.
I'm thinking but nothing's happening.
Very true. But, in terms of finances, if you say “Sure he sucks, but he’d still be better than Velez!” that’s probably who you outta be taken a good look at. Practice kicking tires.

Give him 2 gloves and tell him to play first
What a sight that would be but why didn’t he ever develop any defensive skills? I don’t mind the K’s because he still has a decent OBP and power but he can’t field worth Jack.
Win the inning.
