Around SBN: Jeff Sullivan's MLB Trade Deadline Primer

I think Ben Sheets could be a good idea. He is coming off of an injury year and no one has yet to look at him, which probably means he will be cheap. Could he be A number 5 starter while Bumgarner develops?

I like the idea..

I just don’t know enough about his situation to give an informed opinion.

No monies for hims.

Matt Cain: throwing complete game shutouts since 06'. No big deal.

I'd love to have him on the team

But a from quick look at MLBTR, it seems he wants $12M, and I’d rather the Giants spend that kind of money on hitting. Maybe his price will come down.

I don’t know. With Rich Harden assured of $6.5mil, anything can happen. At least Sheets has pitched a whole season once in his life. Harden has left a trail of broken GM’s dreams.

Too much money for an injured pitcher. If we didn’t give 7.5 to Penny, we’re not giving 12 million to Sheets. Even assuming his price comes down, I don’t see a fit with the Giants. He’s from Louisiana and last year he wanted to sign with Texas.

No Edgar, it's not your fault, it's the fault of the idiot that plays you

I am on this bus.

Might as well bring in Corriea ( if he not too pissed at the way big Head handled him) and save the money for some one that will make a difference among the position players or reserve the money for mid season pick up(s).

Who’s brain did you bring me?

aren’t Bochy & Corriea close? Corriea & Bochy’s kid are friends or some such nonsense?

Totally agree with you rx. That’s nuts money for a guy coming off an injury.

Yeah, you should go over to pinstripealley, where the money flows….

Justin Duchscherer
Erik Bedard
Ben Sheets
John Smoltz

The very bad man traded my son...So now I'd like you all to meet my new son, Ryan "Aaron" Garko...Dammit it's just not the same!

Smoltz might even sign on as a reliever. Heard the Phils were interested in him in that capacity.

+ Chien-Ming Wang (assuming he’s non tendered)
