Actually
I think having someone with no illusions of starting is more important in this case.
VAE PVTO DEVS FIO
More importantly, someone who can’t or isn’t good enough to start a whole year.

And somebody who has not ever been a starter, because Bochy can’t help but put veterans into the lineup if they’ve been a starter.
It's my blarg! Quick Pitch
And I tweet (more often than I blarg).
It worked last year!
I don't know about that, to the groin.

Get a clue: Bowker, Nate and Lewis can’t hit 20 homers! That’s what the Giants need! Jermaine Dye, Xavier Nady and yes, even Nick Swisher will do!
…Dye would have been a difference maker last year. 27 homers to 4 is quite a big difference, not to mention the RBI, runs scored, OPS, SLG, etc. etc. You could actually put Dye in the clean-up spot in front of BFat without crying. You can’t do that with KFred Lewis. Huge difference. No need to spend money on Figgins when the Giants need 4-5 hitters more than they need a leadoff hitter. This team will have only 80 homers after Bengie and Uribe leave. Did you realize that? That is the worst gome run total ever.
…randomman, Adam Dunn has a career .380+ OBP. Do you know what OBP is? It means “on….base…percentage.” It’s something that no Giants outfielder has.

27 homers to 4 is quite a big difference
…and so is 295 at bats vs. 503. So is -0.3 WAR for around $10 million vs. 0.9 WAR for less than half a million.

Aww, but I LIKE gome runs!!!!!
Also, pretty sure this guy has never heard of the dead ball era.
Also, I’m pretty sure he pulled 80 HRs out of his ass. I figured it was the 2009 home run total minus Molina and Uribe, but actually that’s 86.
Do you know what OBP is? It means "on….base…percentage." It’s something that no Giants outfielder has.
FRED LEWIS HAS A CAREER OBP OF .355 YOU DUMB SHITMEISTERS I HATE EVERYONE ARGH.
WHY DO YOU PEOPLE HAVE TO KEEP POSTING THIS SHIT AND TORTURING ME!?

Here’s a stat for ya: The Giants were 53-33 in games where Rowand got a hit. Take that, WAR fools! Your made-up stats can’t compete with W-L.

I know! Let’s see if we can get Adam Dunn and Ty Wigginton – that will give us more home runs and some of the highest strikeout totals in the league. Home Run Derby every inning! That way we won’t have to sit around waiting for our miserable offense to score runs. Let’s field a team with the highest strikeout totals on both sides of the field! In fact, let’s remove the bases entirely. They’ll be irrelevant when no one ever gets on there! Either smack it in the water or go sit down! GameFace will love it!

Done plays in another bandbox: Great American Ballpark (Reds): It saw 241 homers leave the park in 2006, second-most in the majors, and as Adam Dunn continues to demonstrate, Cincinnati’s ballpark is awfully friendly to left-handed hitting sluggers. In 2009 his bandbox ranked 6th in ML’s for HR’s allowed the most in a NL Park.

GiantsFanSince1981, thank you for showing everyone that Dye’s numbers last year as an “old vet” were better than any Giants outfielder’s numbers in the last 3 years, period. So obviously this team needs another slap hitter in the OF like Chone Figgins.
Jermaine Dye, 2009: .250 / .340 / .453, 103 OPS+, -0.3 WAR
Fred Lewis, 2008: .282 / .351 / .440, 105 OPS+, 2.3 WAR
Randy Winn, 2008: .306 / .363 / .426, 105 OPS+, 4.5 WAR

Also:
When are they going to film a Giants movie at AT&T Park?
— Randy M., Red Bluff, Calif.
After they win a World Series. It’s going to be called “2012.” Wishful thinking, huh?
Giants win the WS = World Ends. Some homer.

My schedule is next year or 2011. 2012 is when the Cubs win, just as Bud has planned, before he descends into the underworld and defeat the futurenauts desperately sabotaging the Large Hadron Collider.
