McCovey Awards: Best Fanpost
For this particular category, I'm going to try something different. Fanposts are always the trickiest category to manage. Rather than having a poll with a list of options, here's what we'll do: There will be three categories, sort of an offshoot of a thehavenot idea (SEE!!! I READ YOUR COMMENT!!!): Heart, Head, and Funny Bone. Heart would be Fanposts that have been particularly inspiring, touching or emotional. Head would be those that were thought-provoking, informative and/or educational. Funny Bone would be Fanposts that were... funny. For the nominees, someone presents a Fanpost for a category in a comment saying why he or she chose that one.
Format your response like this:
Category (This would be in the subject field)
- Fanpost title with a link to it
- Reason for choosing it
Now for the voting part. If you wish to back a certain Fanpost, recommend the comment that is presenting it. Then when voting is over for everything, I'll just tally the amount of recs received and figure it out from there. That seems like a reasonably organized way of doing things, although who knows how it'll actually turn out. Alright people, get to posting.
This FanPost is reader-generated, and it does not necessarily reflect the views of McCovey Chronicles. If the author uses filler to achieve the minimum word requirement, a moderator may edit the FanPost for his or her own amusement.

I’m pretty sure I don’t need to elaborate. This one has it all.
Oh, and it wins for heart, head, funny bone, and loins, so we should just go to the next category.

I rec’d this comment so that I could unrec it.

Hey, don’t go getting so cheeky about all this.
Context, people. More context is good. Less context is bad. If you're willing to be reductive, then you're willing to be wrong.

Because howie in pain is funny. And it was a very hilarious read, I thought. Insofar as this is one post that I’ll regularly laugh about.

The reverse jinx is alive and well
Goofus writes a pro Bengie Molina fanpost and he strands runners all over the place the next night. This yahoo writes an anti-Manny Burriss fanpost and he gets on base four straight times. Somebody write something bad about Barry Zito before his next start! Oh wait a second, nothing works for that bum.

Now I'm reading it all over again
I love the fact that MCC can’t even stick to a meta self-parody without meandering into some tangential and slightly disturbing discussion of dead birds.
Anyway, my point is that

I have no idea how to do it better, though. Unless somebody wanted to just be a fascist about it and put all of the nominated fanposts into categories.

Yeah, i don’t like this way of voting, mostly because it may take a long time for all the decent nominations to get up here. I might vote for one, then someone nominates another that’s even funnier/more thought-provoking.
STEVE HOLM! refuses to be the odd man out.
If anyone wants to propose a better method, feel free to do so. I spent a good deal of time thinking about this, but people don’t seem to be complying anyway.

Was it a fanpost or a gameday thread where the U R 5 meme originated?
Proud adoptive daddy for the Big Unit, who is currently teaching Madison Bumgarner the art of being intimidating.
I think it was a Grant post but not a gameday thread.
"All I know is right now, you comeback and do you dwell on that? I think you're man enough to take it, you're man enough to chew on it, to spit it out and you learn from it. ... I think winners let it go. I think losers dwell on it and talk about it all week and that screws you up for the next opportunity going forward." - Mike Singletary after the 49ers loss to the Vikings
