XAVIER NADY: Being a Bay Area native, I see the Giants as a legit suitor for him. The Giants would surely give him a three year deal. Sure up RF, then look to LF and 3B maybe? "

I’m not that big on signing 31 year old corner outfielders who’re coming off major injuries, don’t play good defense, and have only ever had one really good year.

Oh god
Wow, Nady really was just utterly replacement level until that one big year with the Pirates/Yankees. That screams three year deal!

I can’t wait to try to convince all the people who think it was a good signing that they’re wrong.

following the progression of past years for the Giants, I fully expect a 3 year deal for Nady after we offer big money to Holliday, but he gets bigger money elsewhere, and Bay, who decides to take less money to stay close to his ranch in Boston.

What's this 'we' carp?
I quoted a nobody because the notion was one I hadn’t heard before and I wanted to mention it here. Like I said, I don’t care for the idea, but I could totally see a Nady contract being the next Rownads.

N-O, NO!
Brian Sabean strongly encourages you to disregard the drudgery of your employment responsibilities and join him in the consumption of spirituous libations.
I like Nady
Lifetime .308 hitter with .383 OBP against lefties. The Giants can use a righty OF that hits lefties well. Of course, there’s obvious problems here. His health and the fact that his agent is Scott Boras. I would offer him a heavily incentive laden package based on plate appearances.
No Edgar, it's not your fault, it's the fault of the idiot that plays you
+1
Definately not someone you sign early. This is a January or even Febuary signing if he is still available. If he signs earlier it will be for to many years and too many un-incentivized dollars so let some other team assume this unwise risk.

I like the idea if
it’s a one year deal with incentives.. Possibly an option for another year.
And he’s strictly here to come off the bench and mash lefties.
That’s all he deserves.
by AmorVincitOmnia on Nov 5, 2009 11:08 AM PST up reply actions
Agreed
If its a 1 years deal with maybe a team option for the second, not a big deal. Its not like he cant hit and his defense though not the greatest isnt a joke either.
He is friends with Freddy Sanchez maybe that helps, I dont know.
There are much worse signings.
Oh, I thought this was a legitimate source or sumthin’.

2009: The return of Los Galacticos!
PADRES, PIRATES, LOCAL TIES ….Nady and Bay both came up with the Pads for a brief time and played for Bochy so they are familiar…Nady and Bay both played together with Sanchez on the Pirates… all 3 have local ties to the bay area…i sure hope Bochy and Sanchez do some recruiting .
WCO15 "ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE ME"
Bay played three games for the Padres. I don’t think he and Bochy really had time to become BFFs.
Also, what Bay Area ties does Bay have? He’s from BC and went to Gonzaga. West coast ties, yeah, but nothing in the Bay Area as far as I can tell.

wow apparently I played against Jason Bay and didn’t know it. I definitely played against Nady, he hit one that hasn’t landed yet.
We're all basically Pedro Feliz.
you know, now that I think about it, I did give up a HR to a right handed batter on Gonzaga. I remember I had 2 strikes on a left handed batter, he got as close as possible to the plate and then stuck his elbow out and got hit by a pitch that I thought was a strike. I argued with the umpire and called the batter a few names. I was a tad distracted by the HBP and then next guy up, a righty, hit a game tying HR.
We're all basically Pedro Feliz.
Mixed feelings
On the one hand, he’d provide some veteran leadership and a steady bat in RF.
On the other, I’m worried about him blocking Eddie Martinez-Esteve. The man has earned a promotion to AAA.
Still the loving, adoptive father of Hector Sanchez. And who doesn't love switch-hitting catchers with power and patience?
Wow
That’s the first instance I’ve ever heard of someone worried that EME was being blocked.
