Whoa, new SBNation layout
Unless I'm completely crazy, all the SBNation blogs just got a new style. Obviously, McC looks the best of the lot, but I don't know if I like the change overall.
Things are a bit more spread out not, and there's a lot more white space. That would be great if our team colors were white and white, but it's kinda thinning out the color spread.
Any other thoughts? Am I crazy? Has it always looked this way?
This FanPost is reader-generated, and it does not necessarily reflect the views of McCovey Chronicles. If the author uses filler to achieve the minimum word requirement, a moderator may edit the FanPost for his or her own amusement.

Some day, a major site will make their background black and the text white, and rejoicing will be had by many.

Toolband.com is the first that comes to mind. It’s real bad usability-wise (great for signage though).
If you read white on black for a while (like the referenced site, and then return to McC prepare to be
blasted with brightness).

Horizontal scroll at 1024×768 resolution!
I didn’t notice because I don’t usually maximize the window at work, where i have to run my screen at 1024×768. I assume that this is not a problem for people who view websites at reasonable resolutions.
Context, people. More context is good. Less context is bad. If you're willing to be reductive, then you're willing to be wrong.

Grant-
Not sure how much control you have over certain parts of the site, or if you even care, but may I suggest:
1. Adding a meta description. Most search engines like this.
2. Hosting as much of the javascript as you can off the page. It cuts down on load time.
3. Use absolute urls instead of relative. It’s more user-friendly, and also has the side effect of giving your site credit if/when it gets copied.
4. Having all the content is great, but a couple less widgets probably wouldn’t hurt, and also help load time.
Love the site, fanbase, blahblah blah, just trying to help.
