Around SBN: Raiders' GM Begins The Purge

...from May 12, against the Nationals. Two outs, bottom of the ninth, and BOOM.

I'm only to the second inning, but a few things are amusing me:

1) Emmanuel Burriss and Edgar Renteria are hitting first and second, with Randy Winn hitting fifth. Seeing this, it boggles the mind that this team won 88 games.

2) Coming into the game, Sandoval was hitting .289 with 2 home runs, while Molina is hitting .287 with 7 home runs. Final numbers: Sandoval: .330, 25 HRs, Bengie Molina: .265, 20 HRs.

3) Bengie Molina draws his first walk of the season in the first inning. In mid-May.

4) Bengie was not the worst cleanup hitter in the game. Austin Kearns: .243, 3 HRs.

I miss live baseball, but this is fun for now.

I’ve been watching All Star Game replays all day on MLB Network

I watched college football all Saturday. A few pretty good games today (AZ-AZ St., LSU-ARK, ND-Stanford).

"All I know is right now, you comeback and do you dwell on that? I think you're man enough to take it, you're man enough to chew on it, to spit it out and you learn from it. ... I think winners let it go. I think losers dwell on it and talk about it all week and that screws you up for the next opportunity going forward." - Mike Singletary after the 49ers loss to the Vikings

Me too. I was going back and forth.

5) Apparently they forgot to edit out at least one inning break from the game, so it’s just a still shot that seems to go on forever of someone in the crowd ordering a churro, then a wide shot of the empty field. That’s entertainment!

An by the way

You can get the game as a $2 download from iTunes. Search for ‘MLB games of the year 2009.’ They also have Jonathan Sanchez’s no hitter and Randy Johnson’s 300th win. Plus some losses you really, really, really don’t want to see again. No Timmy games, sadly.

You can download the All Star Game. Not Timmy’s best, but a start from him anyway. :D

If you can get 3:2 on a headline of "Giants Pitcher Assaults General Manager" at some point this year, take it.

I enjoyed the Marichal interview with Costas on MLB network. Juan had some pretty funny stories about playing for the Dominican Air Force team while the country was under a dictatorship.

No Edgar, it's not your fault, it's the fault of the idiot that plays you

Fourth inning now, and Nate Schierholtz has already misplayed two linedrives in right field. A couple hitters after the second one, he airmailed the throw when the runner was tagging from third. I’m sure SFGate commenters would still be referencing this if had been Fred.

And come to think of it

In his first at bat, Nate struck out on three pitches – all called strikes.

OMG ITS FRED IN WHITEFACE!!!!

His inside the parker is still great

http://www.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?content_id=5056597

It’s the only inside-the-park HR I can remember where the ball didn’t get caught or hidden somewhere… Cust makes a terrible defensive play and Nate just keeps running.

Desirous of Matt Holliday and Dan Uggla since 2009.

Man, that bottom of the 9th was awesome

And made possible, bizarrely enough, by Burriss AND Renteria getting on base with two outs!

This screen capture cracked me up:

Who’s the dude behind Nate? The one with his head down?

I know you nerds know NOTHING about the real game of baseball, or any other athletic endeavor requiring teamwork under physical stress.

But seriously, that’s great to hear. Thanks for the update.
