Selig stepping down after 2012
According to a report by the Chicago Tribune, Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig will step down when his contract runs out after the 2012 season.
The newspaper reports a group of five owners approached Selig at the recently concludes owners meetings about staying on the job after his contract expires. Unlike the previous two times such a scenario occurred, however, Selig reportedly turned down the offer. His reasoning: He wants to do other things while he can. That could include writing a book or teaching, according to the newspaper.
The Chicago Tribune noted that one of Selig's final acts as commissioner will be to negotiate the next labor agreement in 2011.

My first reaction was: WOOHOO!
My second was: Yeah, right, I’ll believe it when it actually happens.
If you can get 3:2 on a headline of "Giants Pitcher Assaults General Manager" at some point this year, take it.
I go with door #2.
I see no way Emperor Palintine Seligulia willing steps down.

My reaction was, “Well big deal, the world will have ended already.”

Good riddance, although the next commissioner will just be another puppet of the owners as well.
No Edgar, it's not your fault, it's the fault of the idiot that plays you
That is his job.
Joe Martinez: You are cool.
When it's all said and done, America will be remembered for three things: The Bill of Rights, jazz, and baseball.
Good riddance.

I was already fooled by the whole “He’s going to step down in 2009 when his contract ends talk” from last time.
Won’t be fooled again.
I’ll believe it when it happens.
I don't know about that, to the groin.
Fool me once shame on...you
fool me …
can’t get fooled again

Throwing up the his gang signs.
I know you nerds know NOTHING about the real game of baseball, or any other athletic endeavor requiring teamwork under physical stress.

It is kind of mind-boggling to think that’s he been the Commish for so long. I don’t even remember the pre-BS era, except in the ways the game has changed since then, whether through realignment, interleague play, the ASG determining home field advantage in the WS, the Wild Cards, revenue sharing, the WBC, etc..
I’m too young to be a purist and I actually liked some of these changes. The Giants played the first ever interleague game, they’re one of a few NL teams with a winning interleague record and they went to the WS as a WC team. So yay. (And for those who would remind me of the Mets and Marlins, a hearty “SUCK IT” to you on this fine holiday weekend.)
But overall, the Selig’s gotta go and at 75 years young, why wait?

He wanted to be commish but hated what the owners wanted: interleague and realignment of the divisions.

finally
the major league baseball player and fish can coexist in peace, and team owners can practice their love for players.

Yay!
Rafael Rodriguez: #8 on our list, tearing up Scottsdale, and has been alive long enough to see the Warriors make the playoffs once.
Hopefully he doesn't make it one of his final goals
to strip the Giants of their territorial rights to the South Bay as a favor to his brother from the Geek system.

Actually the Giants ownership are Selig allies.
