Stupid Rosterbation Fanpost

Hey guys whtat up? I dunno bout u, but we need to fix the lineup. We have too much pitching and as great as Freddy Sanchez and Bengie Molina are, they need help! Here are some ideas to fix the lineup and take us to the postseason. GIT R DONE SABES!!!!!!

1) We know Edgar Renteria struggled last year because he was playing hurt, but we don't know how to make him healthy. My idea: playing shortstop is the problem, it's too physically demanding. All that running around and doing stuff is banging him up. Solution: move him to first base. Easier position, and J.T. can teach him to play it great. SOLVED.

2) Re-sign Bengie. We need his homers and his gritty leadership and his pitch-calling BAD. Let him walk, and the team ERA goes up 1 point MINIMUM. The only problem is he's not a great cleanup guy. But he's a good RBI guy, so he can hit third. SOLVED.

3) Pablo hits great, but is third base the best spot for him? He played above expectations at third as a fat man, and now he's losing weight, dropping pounds like Jose Cruz Jr. dropping postseason fly balls. I think he's ready for the big move, and (see above) shortstop is available - say hello to Pablo Sandoval, opening day shortstop! That frees us up to sign Melvin Mora, a great gritty vet, hit .340 with about 30 dingerz recently. SOLVED.

4)  The outfield needs to go. F the Lewis sux, Nate Schierholtz isn't going anywhere, plus I hear John Bowker can't even put up numbers in the PCL!!!! Eugenio Velez is a good start, fast, exciting, all around great leadoff hitter. Put him in LF, he'll be the best at that position since Hacman Jeff Leonard. For RF, get Xavier Nady. I think he was a rookie in 2008, and he was realy good then!!! To bad he was hurt in 2009 or I'm sure he'd be a MVP candidate this year. Plus, BAY AREA TIES. He can play RF. Finally, Brett Pill was hitting the hell out of the ball in Connecticut, he's young so I'm sure he can make the tradition to CF since Edgar Renteria is entrenched at first.

5) Rotation: sell high on Lincecum, trade him for some young stud who'll help in a couple years - I think Kyle Skipworth is a much better bet than Buster Posey, so maybe Lincecum and Posey for Skipworth and a veteran for the bullpen to provide leadership. With Cain, just cut our losses...he's never gonna get it. Early this year it looked like he figured out how to win, but down the stretch he went back to losing. He's worthless, just DFA. Jonathan Sanchez, move him to the bullpen. Last time that happened, he came back with a no-hitter. This time, with a stint in the bullpen, I'm sure we can count on him to get a perfect game AT LEAST. Maybe perfect 27 strike out game. With our pitching depth, this gives us the following great rotation:

1) Barry Zito LHP

2) Madison Bumgardner LHP

3) Tim Alderson RHP

4) Joe Martinez RHP

5) Ryan "The Big" Sadowski RHP

To go with our great lineup:

1) Freddy Sanchez 2B

2) Edgar Renteria 1B

3) Bengie Molina C

4) Xavier Nady RF

5) Eugenio Velez LF

6) Brett Pill CF

7) Pablo Sandoval SS

8) Melvin Mora 3B

What do u think????

The Giants need to non-tender Lincecum. He’s going to make far too much money, which will hurt the team’s chances to find an impact player in free agency.

It’s hard to believe that a couple of posters thought this post was serious. On the other hand, it’s not that far off from a few fanposts that WERE intended to be serious. I’m sick of rosterbation fanposts already, but what else is there to talk about? John Halama signing? Roy Halladay rumors? All the teams are crying about having no money and the economy, etc. but all they’re doing is trying to drive down the prices of this year’s free agents in a collusive kind of way. If things don’t pick up at the winter meetings next week, the agents are going to go nuts, and bored baseball fans are going to commit mass suicide.

by diehardsf on Nov 28, 2009 7:43 AM PST reply actions

Your fantasies involve the Giants trading Cain? If I’m going to fantasize about the Giants, I’d do it where he’s still a part of the team.

I'm thinking but nothing's happening.

by JRPhillips on Nov 28, 2009 8:03 AM PST up reply actions

In light of the putrid economy I feel there are other changes that the Giants need to make. Let’s face it, no one has any money to go to baseball games anymore, they will never fill the stadium in this economy and with that team. They should just sell AT&T Park, and move the team back to Seals Stadium, with a capacity of ~20,000 it should be much easier to sell the place out.

by Merope on Nov 28, 2009 7:52 AM PST reply actions

Or 15.000 really LARGE fans. THAT ought to fill it up!

Just give anyone from Kingman. AZ a discount…

I don't know what all this talk of bringing back Bengie is, when the solution is already on the Giants roster

His name – Bruce ’don’t call him a Backup’ Bochy.

How else would his veterany gritty leadership tools be better used than if he were already on the field?

Plus, it’d take way less time for him to waddle out to the middle to pat Timmy on the ass when he pulls him out after 134 pitches.

In the commonly accepted parlance: SOLVED.
