Adopted brother of Jason Jarvis. To pass the time during the offseason I decided to try my hand at blogging about photography and music.

Bochy actually is down with OBP, from his indoctrination in San Diego.

He just doesn’t like Fred Lewis.

Please hit better, Randy Winn.

Yes, please.

I know you nerds know NOTHING about the real game of baseball, or any other athletic endeavor requiring teamwork under physical stress.

I’m interested in Nick Johnson.

From the comments:

Nick Johnson? Yes he had a .426 OBP, but he hit just 8 home runs and drove in 62 runs. Isn’t that just Ryan Garko in a (nearly) full season?

Ryan Garko has never posted an OBP better than .359. So, no.

by xanthan on Nov 21, 2009 1:30 PM PST up reply actions

Oh please. That’s only a difference of 63 points of OBP. I could get that in, like, one or two at bats,

I don't know about that, to the groin.

Garko: career .347 wOBA. Johnson: career .371 wOBA. League average is around .330 or so. That’s a big difference in offense. Also, Johnson is a better defensive player, as well. Big difference between them.

didn’t Johnson hit second for the Nats? That might explain the lack of RBI’s. I have a feeling this guy thinks Bengie is an RBI machine.

No Edgar, it's not your fault, it's the fault of the idiot that plays you

Not to mention his looking at 20 HR to 8 HR and probably concluding that Bengie is 250% better of a hitter than Johnson.

Johnson’s defense has actually degenerated quite a bit the last couple of years. (Although I’d still like to see him in a Giants uni).

My Bucardo is better than yours.

A hot August weekday, before a small crowd, when the only thing at stake is the tissue-thin difference between a thing done well and a thing done ill. Insofar as the clutch hitter is not a sportswriter's myth, it is a vulgarity, like a writer who writes only for money.

Oh, absolutely. I’ll be very happy if Johnson is signed.

It's San Francisco

it has always been interested in Johnson

by wilriv21 on Nov 21, 2009 4:15 PM PST reply actions

One to keep an eye on closely is first baseman Nick Johnson, who has a long injury history but played in 133 games for Florida and Washington in 2009. Manager Bruce Bochy loves him

A case of Bork getting it right?
