Bay Rejects 4yr/$60 Contract from Red Sox
I think this moves the idea of us signing Jason Bay from "probably a bad idea" to "almost certainly a bad idea".

As far as I can tell, that just means that he hasn’t yet rejected out 5 year, 125 million dollar deal.
Context, people. More context is good. Less context is bad. If you're willing to be reductive, then you're willing to be wrong.

I don’t see how this could ever go bad, and the money we save from signing Bay over Holliday we can go after Ruben Sierra and Rickey Ledee.

Turns down $15MM/year.
So can we end this chatter about him being a better option than Cameron or Holiday now? Or at least put it in the " LEWIS IS DA PROBLEM" category?

To get technical about it
We actually weren’t discussing whether Cameron or Bay were better OPTIONS. Xanathan was arguing that Cameron is a better all around player, regardless of money, which is ridic.

I don't think he was arguing that Cameron is a better all around player
Because he quite obviously is (better defender, more speed, better baserunning)
xanthan was arguing that Cameron was a better player period. Or maybe that the difference between what Bay will get paid in comparison to what Cameron would get paid is way too much for similar (or almost similar) production
Aaron King is still my homeboy... iffy mechanics and all

Both things, really. He’s cheaper, gives you more positional flexibility (if Rowand gets hurt, Cam can play CF, Bay is stuck in LF regardless of what happens), and is a much better defender. He’s probably a much better baserunner, too. His total package > Bay’s total package.
LOL PACKAGES!
