I bet. Our conference budget has been just about eliminated. We get plenty of grant money for the purpose of attending conferences, but the district won’t allow us to use the $$.

Our regional conferences are still doing well, but next year’s state conference will take a hit in attendance which is the one I’m putting together. As they say oh the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead.

we’ve seen a big drop in the number of people traveling for our events (I work on 8 a year) but have seen local numbers remain relatively consistent. To compound the problem we do tech conferences that rely pretty heavily on startups and obviously there aren’t a whole lot of those around right now and the ones that are – aren’t spending money on conferences.

a head coach’s job IS more of a motivational and game-managing role. The coordinators and position coaches handle most of the actual coaching.

but that’s expected. It’s his second game in over a year. He’s been so good these first 2 games I’ll take the rookie mistakes. Pretty much called that one. Him and Patrick Willis are my 2 shining achievements of college scouting.

I’m watching this Russian feed of the game on justin.tv.
It did not go to break. Instead it was just a camera fixated on Lidge as he was sitting in the dugout.
He was just sitting there and being kind of twitchy, touching his face, and fixing his cap, and scratching his nose.
And exactly zero people talked to him.
It was a weird three minutes.

I was glad for Pedro when he hit his dinger
thinking that it was cool for him that he’s been in back to back WS. And that his major sin in SF was being batted above 7 in the lineup (cf. Molina, Bengie). I’m rooting for NY but can’t root against Stairs or Pedro. Or Eyre, really.
Then I watched Damon steam right by him at 2B. A very freaky turn of events, mooted when Posada drove in the other 2 runs. Sorry to see Pedro caught out of position (or rather left holding the bag by Lidge).
Also: Tim McCarver? I’m starting to miss Dave Niehaus and Mike Blowers…
