I am having trouble rooting for the Cards. I dunno why but I hate them too. Maybe memories of them beating the Giants in 1987 when Candy, “lost it in the lights” are still too painful. Or maybe it was when Ozzie stepped on will clark at second base.

The point is, they’re going to need to spend to be competitive next year. They don’t have any hot up-and-coming prospects in their farm system, they’re not going to move the few, overpaid stars they have and the rest of their lineup doesn’t have much trade value. They need at least another OF (Bay? Holliday?) and a premier starter (Penny?). I don’t know how grave the Wilpons’ financial situation is, but there are other Mets financiers who’ll keep the cash flowing.

Dude my family had season tix back in the day when the L-Train, Lionel Simmons was the best player on the Kings and they set the record for longest road losing streak. They were an embarrassment but I stuck with them. Then Mich Richmond happened and they broke my heart. Then Chris Webber and Vlade and Mike Bibby (Team Dime/puke) and it was really fun and they broke my heart. But I just can’t go back to where we started. I can’t live through all those years of pain again.
