Would you..?
I'm not trying to suggest that Sabes and Bork are even contemplating this, but would you trade Dirty, Guzman, and FLew to KC for Alex Gordon? Seems like a pretty decent deal for both clubs, as all involved are under team control for a bit and still cheap. The Royals need OF, DH, and SP help. Seems like a lot to give up, but FLew and Guzman will never be used here anyway. It just seems like Dirty's gotta be the one to get traded this offseason, and there aren't too many good corner IF's that are young and under team control that I could see being moved. Not that KC's looking to move Gordon, but for the right package maybe?

I wouldn’t.
I know you nerds know NOTHING about the real game of baseball, or any other athletic endeavor requiring teamwork under physical stress.

and who would replace Dirty in the rotation? Bumgarner has an excellent fastball and no secondary pitches. After 1 time through the league he would get lit up like a christmas tree. Shocking as it sounds, major league hitters sitting on fastballs, hit fastballs.

Eh, I’m not really that enamored with Alex Gordon.

Alex Gordon isn’t enough to get Sanchez.

If they're going to move Sanchez,
and I’m not sure they will because the loss of Penny affects this decision, they’d move him I think for a corner OF who can be under control for awhile.

Definately not. Gordon’s been pretty uninspiring so far (not managed to put up an OPS over 800) and i’m not interested in giving up a goof pitcher in Sanchez for the opportunity to downgrade our offense (Garko’s been the better hitter).
There’s the possibility that Gordon starts living up to his hype more and might be worth a gamble but certainly not at that price.

Those three players are definitely worth more than Gordon. No way you trade a #4 starter with Sanchez’ potential, a starting LF with speed and power, and a crazy-hitting 1B for someone with an ML OPS of .743 (not to mention the move from the AL to the NL would probably hurt Gordon’s numbers even more). Yeah, Lewis and Guzman have mediocre at absolute best defense, but that doesn’t mean you throw them away for a totally unproven prospect. 2 proven major leaguers and a good prospect are not worth a great prospect.

I wouldn’t call Garko a crazy-hitting 1B…I also wouldn’t say that Fred Lewis has power and mediocre-at-absolute-best defense. I also also wouldn’t say Guzman plays defense at all.
The very bad man traded my son...So now I'd like you all to meet my new son, Ryan "Aaron" Garko...Dammit it's just not the same!

Lewis has power. He can hit homers. I’ve seen it myself. Also, I was talking about Guzman, not Garko, which is who he mentioned in the original post. As for the defensive stats, I was trying to find a way to describe Lewis’ and Guzman’s defense in the same way, which was probably a bad idea because you’re right, Guzman doesn’t play defense. But Lewis is a pretty bad fielder IMO; like others have said, he gets away with his bad routes because he’s quick, but his speed will diminish with age, and that will have an effect on his defense.

replace dirty with pucetas and i’ll take that deal. guzman is made for the AL b/c he doesn’t play defense and lewis is just lewis and i’m alright losing pucetas if it means keeping dirty

I don’t think Pucetas gets it done. I don’t even know if Sanchez would really be enough for KC. I was just thinking of young, controllable players the Giants may target for a Sanchez trade, and I personally would rather see Gordon than Hardy or Gamel. Although, maybe Hardy + Hart, play Hardy at 3rd. There just aren’t many good fits. Uggla to play third, but he’s expensive and not enough for Dirt straight up.
Matt Cain: throwing complete game shutouts since 06'. No big deal.

You’re right, Pucetas wouldn’t get it done, although KC is poorly run so it’s difficult to say what they’d want.
I wouldn’t trade Sanchez for any of those players straight uo. Gordon’s not been good enough. Uggla would be ok value-wise but we’d be better off keeping Sanchez and signing Freddy Sanchez or one of the other 2B available in free-agency. I’d be interested in Hardy or Gamel but neither are enough for Sanchez straight up. Hardy AND Gamel would be more interesting but the Brewers would want a lot more in return.
