American Experience: Win Now

WIN NOW was a series of photographs by acclaimed photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt taken during the 1940s for use in the War effort.  Though the photographs were very popular with the G.I.s in various theaters of combat, the U.S. Government forbid their civilian use stateside.  With the war over and the United States victorious, Eisenstaedt bought back his photos and held them back from public view for neatly fifty years. I first ran into Eisenstaedt in 1992, saving his life from dolphin attack in the Bermuda Triangle.  So taken was he with my courage he willed the entire photo series to me shortly before his death in 1995.

Thanks for saying you liked these dumb things. It was a challenge to do something new every day and make it both topical and funny (dumb) at the same time. WE CAN SEE HOW YOU RISE TO THE CHALLENGE, SHE SAID. I always had fun in the Gamedays, unless I didn't. EDITORIAL: I liked it better when post counts were not divulged.

So long, suckers! VOTE FOR ME IN THE END OF THE YEAR AWARDS!! (WINK! I AM KIDDING - OR AM I??)

Most excellent.

I know you nerds know NOTHING about the real game of baseball, or any other athletic endeavor requiring teamwork under physical stress.

Wasn’t there a picture where everyone was wearing a monacle? Or is that the one from 8/30 and there wasn’t as much as I remember?

Either way, great job. This has to get some serious consideration for gameday image of the year (although would the Win Now series win, or a specific one?)

I liked how you were able to incorporate the pictures that were posted among various posts and incorporate them in these ‘win now’ pictures.

I loved all of these. The variation in emphasis was always worth studying closely. Despite being so busy, they’re also like haikus or something, so elegantly referential to everything that was going on in Giantsland. They really do belong in a museum.
