"With the 24th pick of the 2010 draft the Giants select..."
"Ummm, excuse me, Commissioner Selig, but the Giants don't actually have a first round pick... your print out is wrong. The Giants gave up their pick when they signed LaTroy Hawkins in the off season."
Josh Sales sure would have been nice though. Sigh.

I think at this early stage that both O’Conner and Cabrera would make excellent choices as well.

sounds good
i sure hope they don’t give up their first round pick by signing some declining player like dye.

I’m glad that we had such a good year, but it’s kind of a bummer not to be picking high anymore. I doubt any of us will be overly against whoever we pick, considering the lack of pressure—-in fact, it could be a good chance to get a signability pick.
Merkin Valdez? Manuel Mateo? A rose by any other name...

But think of how many more permutations of mock drafts are possible. We better get started.

When I saw the draft order today, this was the first place I came to. I am counting on one or more of you nerds figuring out who the Giants are getting. Also a hefty fuck you to the Braves for losing last night, and usurping the 23rd slot.

A bit of karma after stealing Wheeler last year?
And I’m really more of a geek or perhaps a spaz. Are those mutually exclusive?

Yes please!
A lefty hitter, he’s got all the makings of a middle-of-the-order hitter, and he can put an absolute charge into a ball.

I wouldn't be too worried about losing draft picks
If the Giants turn around and spend that money in Latin America. I know it’s a big “if”, but it’s at least possible for a rational GM to look at it that way.

The wait for latin talent is typically significantly longer especially if we draft a first round college guy.
Unless it’s Holiday or maybe Bay, I really think we need to pass on Type A free agents.

I wouldn't be worried about ETA.
Unless the Giants selected a college closer or similar low-upside/low-risk pick, it would take some incredibly fortunate drafting to get a fast mover in the later half of the second round or later.

I need a new job. Do you think he’ll hire someone to read to him?

You can say that again.
"All I know is right now, you comeback and do you dwell on that? I think you're man enough to take it, you're man enough to chew on it, to spit it out and you learn from it. ... I think winners let it go. I think losers dwell on it and talk about it all week and that screws you up for the next opportunity going forward." - Mike Singletary after the 49ers loss to the Vikings

I expect the Giants to have a first round pick...
…but I don’t think it’ll be #24. If I had to lay odds, I’d say it’ll be #19.

Sales sounds great…how the hell would he drop to 24 though? Just because he is limited to corner OF duty or what? I mean, we sorta need corner OF with pop

What are John Bowker, Thomas Neal and Brooks Kieshnick?
Then again, powerful corner outfielders are a bit like pitchers in that you can always use more and they’re always in demand.
