Pete Rose you are in my HOF!
Pete Rose was on the local radio tonight. He started talking about a play, when was a Phillie, where he knocked ran over Bochy (as a Astro?). Somehow he got the said something along the following. "Somehow I hit him in the elbow or chest, you know Bochy is the hardest guy in the league not to run into his head right? He has the biggest head in the league. In fact he was the only guy I know of who, when traded, took his batting helmet b/c they only made one. Instead making new ones they would just paint over the old one." LMAO, almost got into an accident.

Rose should already be in the HOF and Giamatti was evil.
This anecdote just adds to the legend of Charley Hustle. Rose may have been an ass, but he was a great baseball player.
My adopted son Matt Downs . Ranked as the 24th best prospect in the Giants farm system by Baseball America !!

Yes, He Was.
I just do not understand why MLB, MSM, and the Hall of Fame can not just seperate Rose the player from Rose the manager. There is no evidence that Pete ever bet on baseball as a player. I just don’t get allwoing what he did as a manager to effect how he is evaluated as a player.

The sign in the clubhouse says that gambling = lifetime ban. It doesn’t differentiate between playing career and managing.
Now, as it happens, I think that Rose should be in and his transgressions should be noted on his plaque. But by the current rules, he’s out and with good reason.

Lifetime Ban Should Be From Particpating Actively In MLB
In Rose’s case he couldn’t play anymore anyway and had already retired as a player. I agree that Rose should have been and should continue to be banned from employment in MLB. But, this shuld have nothing to do with how (or when) a historical museum like the Hall of Fame (and it’s election process) evaluates Pete Rose the player that had already retired before these crimes. Do you really think there would have been any serious effort to remove Pete from the Hall of Fame if he had not bet on baseball until after he was elected?

MLB did not stop Rose from getting into the HOF.
IIRC, the Hall of Fame came up with the guideline that no players with a lifetime ban can be voted in specifically for the Pete Rose case.

ROSE
Pete Rose knew the rules and should have no expectation of entry into the Hall Of Fame. He screwed up, BIG TIME! For all his accomplishments on the field, they pale to his offenses off of it. If this guy ever gets into the HOF in my lifetime, I will never ,EVER, pay attention to the game again.
