ESPN Says a decade is only nine years!
"And yes, we know that technically speaking, "the decade" started in 2001, not 2000. But there's nothing technical about this award."
"They won a World Series in the first year of a "decade" (2000) and the last year (2009). "
So the "REAL DECADE" starts in 01 and ends in 09. Got It. At least they are using a 10 year sample, which is actually the right definition of the "aughts" but they seem to thing the real AUGHTS end in 2010. Which isn't an aught at all!

(OK, so the Yankees also did that in the “official” decade of 1941-1950. Whatever. Be technical about this if it makes you feel better. It’s a cool feat either way.)

And a decade is really just any grouping of 10 continous years. 1995-2004= decade, it just doesn’t have a short hand name that any decade that starts in X0 and in endds in x9 has (The 80’s= 80-89)
