OT - Help Editing HD Video
So I've been driving a cab for almost a year now and I've taken to mounting my flip ultraHD on the dashboard of my car, and I've taken a bunch of footage. My problem is that I have almost no video editing skills to go with my filming ambition. Is anyone interested in a new video project to waste some time on, or to teach me how to waste some time on a video project? If anyone is a student & wants an internship, I'd be happy to fudge a few details for you. Here's an example of the video, along with my youtube screen name so you can take a peak at the rest of the videos I've uploaded.

What kind of editing are you looking for when you have one camera shot/angle? Are you looking for color correction or effects or something?
Just trying to see what it is you’re looking to do.
PS It’s “couldn’t care less.”

I'd like to put together something resembling a highlight reel
combined with a music video. Basically cuts of cool locations, street scenes, etc. I also have a tripod so I can take street footage for the “exterior” shots. I like the camera set ups in cash cab, but there’s no way I can get permission of the passengers to shoot them. Now if I knew how to pixelate (spelling?) their faces and change their voices, it could be pretty cool.

Depends on what you need to do.
If you’re on a Mac, I recommend Final Cut Express. It’s not the cheapest program, but it’s easy to use once you learn it. There’s a free workshop about it at the Apple Store PA coming up middle of next month. It looks like you’re in SF, so you should be able to find stuff up there, too.
Also, consider posting something with Film Arts Foundation or Bay Area Video Coalition.
I’m an ex-Film Major, I doubt I have the time to actually do any editing for you, but I can help guide you and learn.

Observations (worthless ones)
- You’re an excellent driver. Your parallell parking is the shizznit.
- Your car suspension needs work (Or the streets need paving). The camera suspension seems to be adequate. Hit something large and let’s track the oscillation, if any.
- Do your fares stick their heads in and recoil in fear from the ambience (music)? This might adversely affect your future as 1. A wealthy cabdriver. 2. Owner of an expensive image manipulation package. Air Supply soothes and protects.

Worthless response to an equally worthless observation
assuming you’re serious about the driving skill, muchas gracias. Every cab I have driven has hooooooooooooooooorrible suspension, but thats probably because the cab co doesn’t replace suspensions because they are expensive (as opposed to brakes which are cheap to replace), but the streets do need repaving, and the opening shot in this has me going over speed bumps (or humps they keep changing the name on the signs). I kill the phat beats as soon as someone gets in the car, since I know I’m usually the only person who likes hearing Biggie Smalls at high volume. Could you explain a bit what you mean by an expensive image manipulation package and the Air supply soothes and protects comment?

You want an explanation on expensive image manipulation packages...
…from a guy who takes pictures of MLB – TV DVR images displayed on a Sun CRT monitor?
Surely you’re not serious. I know I wasn’t. Except for the parallel parking.
(Air Supply was a duet of nonabrasive pop crooners. Image manipulation packages can require many dollars from many tips from many fares – fares made comfy by smooooth sounds and rides. Yours is fine. I never doubted you were conscientious, why am I overexplaining myself?)
