LOL Steve Phillips
So Phillips is gone. Best news of the morning. Now we don't have to listen to that idiot describe how he drove the Mets into the ground any longer, or suffer through his diatribes on leadership and toughness. Good riddance.

It’s no great loss not having to hear Phillips’ anymore, but on the other hand, one shouldn’t lose their job because they slept with another consenting adult, even if that individual is married. Losing his wife is penalty enough. Are we going to make him wear a scarlet A as well?
No Edgar, it's not your fault, it's the fault of the idiot that plays you
I think it is stupid. I really don’t care which ink well he dips his quill into.

That's a weird phrase to me
Nobody uses quills anymore.
Context, people. More context is good. Less context is bad. If you're willing to be reductive, then you're willing to be wrong.

Well, they did work for the same company. Not that I agree with him getting fired, it shouldn’t just be looked at as just two adults.

Oh, I think it’s incredibly dumb that a person’s personal life is now considered grounds for termination. Pretty soon companies are going to start sterilizing their employees. On the other hand, I am not sad to see Phillips go. Not at all.
Joe Martinez: You are cool.
When it's all said and done, America will be remembered for three things: The Bill of Rights, jazz, and baseball.
Yup. I don’t know, there’s a ton of gray area and it really is easier for companies to more less ban workplace relationships.

Did he lose his wife, though? This is actually his second publicly embarassing sexual relationship – he had one on the Mets, too…
Yeah, it’s nice to not have Phillips on ESPN anymore because he’s not very knowledgeable about baseball (which is why he was a bad GM), but I can’t take pleasure out of a story like this. It’s sad. Also, as someone else noted, there was a little more to the story since they were both ESPN employees. It could very well be against company policy (though I don’t know if it is). There are a lot of reasons it doesn’t make sense to ESPN to keep him on.

Yeah, she started divorce proceedings against him.

I doubt ESPN has any policy about employees dating. Is it even legal for a company to tell two adults they can’t date? I know companies can have policies about married employees working together, but I don’t think they can stop two consenting adults from dating.

No inter office relationships is not an exactly uncommon thing, unless I’m mistaken?

AIn a decision issued last Thursday, the California Court of Appeal held that an employer had acted within its rights in terminating a manager for having maintained an intimate relationship with a subordinate. In so doing, the court rejected arguments that the termination violated public policy and the manager’s privacy rights.

IDK . If she was a complete knockout and the entire sports watching community thought “how did Steve swing that?,” then I think he might have a chance to save his job.
I’m not saying it’s fair, but the punch line element here shouldn’t be downplayed.
It’s also possible that ESPN finally realized that Phillips is an even worse commentator than GM. But given how image driven modern ESPN seems to be, I think KCEs explanation has some credence.

If she was 8 instead of 2, WalrusMan would be… oh, wait… that’s not what you.
Coincidentally: I was wondering why I haven’t seen much WalrusMan around here lately. I think I might know why.

ESPN would have to fire a lot of people.

Can Keith Law fill in for him on Sunday Night Baseball? How many awkward statistical exchanges would there be between him and Joe Morgan?
