Really? Renteria's fortitude?
Or does this highlight the complete ineptitude of our team doctors? Boch and Sabes for letting him play all year? This isn't a good thing!

whee, comments
of course renteria needed and had the surgery, you do not understand the sacrifice of playing in the conditions that he did. only to help the team, that’s real guts, but you do not stop criticizing and not see the positives of the situation. despite all the problems all hit 5 homeruns almost with one hand and take the ball and throw to bases with this constant pain and discomfort. I invite you to see how perseverance and a fighter who is edgar, but not, everything that was not well focused campaign, which does not serve the medical staff when the campaign began renteria was very well, dropping 5 pounds PLAYING faster and more agile. he was very healthy in the early period, was an accident that caused his elbow problems, you ignorant.
let´s stop criticizing. that’s not the point, the only truth we must analyze the Giants have done a good job despite the bad times, but you see the problem lies in renteria and Rowand and that is not so.you must see staft of relievers that have not worked in a good way hurling several games that are gaining the starters. I’m not generalizing. There are relievers who have done the job. but please don’t download the balance weight on one side. if the team wins everyone wins and It loses everyone loses too!!!
you all will see next year… then you should give me the reason about what i said. if you think like you are thinking now… why don´t you take a glove with a bat and do all renteria did with his hurted elbow, so please do not criticize, before knowing how things are. i´m so sure that Edgar worth more than 18.5 US.. salary contract for 2 years… he´s the spark.
Most of the commenters know how stupid this is, though. When even mlb.com commenters know you’re wrong…
Anyway, this is old news. The article’s a month old. And Chris Haft is a sorry shill for the front office.

I really hate it when players play hurt to try to prove their fortitude/toughness/grit/gamerism/determination and in doing so it ends up being the detrimental to the team. If you’re hurt, then let a guy who isn’t hurt play, especially if he’ll out perform you. You aren’t a hero if you play through injuries and in turn bring the team down with you

while this is true, it’s true of ALL athletes, not just Edgar Renteria. Their egos tell them that although they’re hurt, they’re still better than their backups and the team simply cannot win without them. Here’s where a good trainer, coaches and manager comes in. They need to watch the player in fielding and batting practice and decide how badly hurt they really are. Maybe Bochy should pay more attention to this instead of playing cards in the clubhouse and masturbating in his office.

Oh I’m not just blaming Renteria. Just saying in general how much it irritates me when athletes do this.
I also read about Bork beating off on his office while on the phone with my mom and was close to starting to laugh…luckily I held back.

I knew this would be said.
"All I know is right now, you comeback and do you dwell on that? I think you're man enough to take it, you're man enough to chew on it, to spit it out and you learn from it. ... I think winners let it go. I think losers dwell on it and talk about it all week and that screws you up for the next opportunity going forward." - Mike Singletary after the 49ers loss to the Vikings

Sorry, even the backups are always hurting from something or other.
There’s no pro athlete who doesn’t have damage to a shoulder, elbow, knee, back, neck or any or all of the above.
That’s what makes them NOT NERDS.

Last I checked carpal tunnel is a very serious infliction many nerds play through to continue typing. Their sheer grittiness is what allows them to continue commenting on internet blogs at such a high level, something you, my friend, will never know anything about…
Serious part of the comment: I don’t think anyone should blame Renteria for playing, it’s only natural for someone to keep trying to play through pain – rather, when the Giants saw he was as horrible as he was and knew he was at least playing in some pain, they should have been the ones to pull the plug on him (especially since he was not helping the team). Like usual, I blame Sabean.

Ripe for Nerdicule.
All pro athletes are ALWAYS hurting all of the time!
They are not, however, always INJURED (meaning debilitated).

It could be worse much, much worse. I ran into a link were a Royal’s front office wonk thinks Greinke needs to learn to pitch through pain.

I bet their instructions to Greinke would be more or less the same.
