Context, people. More context is good. Less context is bad. If you're willing to be reductive, then you're willing to be wrong.

Scott Ostler of the San Francisco Chronicle penned Monday that the Giants were an undisciplined offensive team in 2009 and that the retention of their manager and general manager could destine them for another year of poor offensive output.
Ostler asks “can you imagine Tony La Russa shrugging as his hitters consistently ignore the preaching and teaching of his hitting coach, who is an extension of the manager?”
Not that LaRussa is the very best example to use, but he has a point. The Giants need better talent, yes, but their team philosophies have to upheld by any and all and whichever individuals are not on board should not be wearing the uniform.
Ostler opines that it’s too late for that, however, citing GM Brian Sabean’s belief that top prospect Buster Posey needs another year in the minors. And we’ve talked at length here about how most talent evaluators believe Posey is ready to take over and offer an upgrade to Bengie Molina across the board, and won’t cost millions in annual salaries to do it.
