Around SBN: NHL Trade Rumors: Do You Make A Move For Rick Nash?

The new brand of Giants baseball, with MLB's top pitching rotation led by Tim Lincecum & skilled position players like Pablo Sandoval & Eugenio Velez, will be very exciting for years to come.

So?

Brian Sabean strongly encourages you to disregard the drudgery of your employment responsibilities and join him in the consumption of spirituous libations.

Velez is a long-term building block, clearly.

Merkin Valdez? Manuel Mateo? A rose by any other name...

Budding superstar cornerstone!

I know you nerds know NOTHING about the real game of baseball, or any other athletic endeavor requiring teamwork under physical stress.

If Velez is a starter, I’m going to murder something.

I can’t wait to watch him occasionally hit a ball hard, then watch it like he’s an actually good hitter.

Fail

This is why i shouldnt see ESPN insider storylines before coming to this site. I feel like Pedro Feliz with a slider in the dirt.

The way they keep talking him up is making me really nervous.

I really think he’s one of those players that everyone assumes is kinda young but he’s going to be 28-years-old next season. I’d love to poll the average Giants’ fan on his age.

by xanthan on Oct 20, 2009 1:41 PM PDT up reply actions

I bet most people would say he’s 24 or 25.

But he’s one of our kids. Everyone wants to play the kids, don’t they?

My Bucardo is better than yours.

A hot August weekday, before a small crowd, when the only thing at stake is the tissue-thin difference between a thing done well and a thing done ill. Insofar as the clutch hitter is not a sportswriter's myth, it is a vulgarity, like a writer who writes only for money.

So? So the Giants website calling Velez an “exciting skilled position player for years to come”, using him in the same breath as Sandoval and Lincecum, and trying to sell season tickets with his name doesn’t bother you?

I mean, I know he’s the cornerstone of the franchise and all…

F. the Lewis.

by calpolynate on Oct 20, 2009 5:02 PM PDT up reply actions

yea cause he's one of the fastest players on the team with a great arm....

but doesn’t steal any bases and can’t hit lefties and is meh defensively

gawd this team is depressing!

I thought I was a pessimist

Tim Lincecum
Matt Cain
Jonathan Sanchez
Brian Wilson
Pablo Sandoval
Buster Posey
Madison Bumgarner

Happy yet? People, this team isn’t in as bad of shape as I would have you believe. COME ON!

Adopted Giant Darren "Speedy" Ford. Said by Andrew Baggarly to be the fastest minor league player and the best defensive outfielder in the Giants Organization. Now playing for your San Jose Giants.
