Around SBN: Roy Nelson Willing to Pay for His Next Opponent's Drug Test

Are you guys willing to trade Matt Cain or Brian Wilson (or maybe JSanch) for a hitter?

Do you accept the premise that a young pitcher must be traded to improve this offense enough?

A weak FA market means that trading away one of our starters is the fastest way to get from Point A to B.

I don’t want to trade Cain ;_;

I understand...

… that trading away young pitching will be the easiest (and probably only) way to acquire a bat the team needs, but splitting Lincecum and Cain will more than likely be a mistake that leads to tons of regret and lunatic’s fringing.

Sort of like Don Nelson’s attempts to trade for a big man.

My Bucardo is better than yours.

A hot August weekday, before a small crowd, when the only thing at stake is the tissue-thin difference between a thing done well and a thing done ill. Insofar as the clutch hitter is not a sportswriter's myth, it is a vulgarity, like a writer who writes only for money.

J SANCH BOOYA! WITH AUTHORITY!!

I’d trade Wilson. I wouldn’t trade the other two.

WHY IS BOCOCK?!

Pitchers and catchers report in only about 135 days!

We need a digital countdown clock somewhere on this site!

"The part of the roster where most of the money is spent, though, is on free agents and guys acquired through trade — guys Sabean did play a big role in acquiring. And they are not good. When you get 2/5 of a pitching rotation for free, you would think you could do better with $76 million than to field the league’s worst offense."

I need to get a waterproof laptop so I can rosterbate in the shower.

Made me think of this:

Lester Burnham: Look at me. Jerking off in the shower. This will be the highlight of my day.

After the season Cain just had, it would make sense to trade him. The problem is, the rube you’d want to trade him to would be Sabean.

Proud father of Juan Carlos Perez. Think Albert Pujols at a position to be determined.

If a really good bat can be had for Brian Wilson I wouldn’t hesitate.

Thing A

Rather overpay

I’d rather overpay for Matt Holliday than lose one of those guys. Pitchers like Cain don’t come along very often so he needs to stay. Wilson is young and was dominant for much of the season. Sanchez will be a guy with potential until he is 35, so I guess that is the one I would give up if the Giants had to. Unfortunately he isn’t going to be worth all that much piling up all these losses over the last few years

I wouldnt trade Cain for anything.

Sanchez I’d definitely be willing to listen, especially if Penny resigns for a modest price.

Wilson, I find him to be expendable but I’d rather keep him only because he seems to me like he could be a quality closer for a long time, something that’s usually not easy to find given the inconsistencies of bullpens from year to year. Guys like Affedlt, Romo or even Runzler are plenty capable but I doubt they’d be as effective as Wilson was this year.

Our record of success with this method is second to none.

Oh wait , my bad…it IS none.

Ya know...ignorance really IS bliss.
Well - I do , anyway.
