The New Hitting Coach?
Looks like the "magical" hitting coach, Rudy Jamrillo, is not returning to the Rangers. If Sabes and Boch are serious bout axing Lansford (which is probably true), I wonder if they'll give Jamrillo a call? I don't necessarily think the man can work wonders, but, at the very least, if the offense sucks next year (which is likely), Sabean and Bochy won't have the excuse of "Well, its the hitting coach's fault!"

$10 says that the hitting coach job is given to Shawon Dunston. Any takers?
I'm thinking but nothing's happening.

Rangers officials met with Jaramillo shortly after the season to extend the one-year offer but to also stipulate that the offense needed to improve. The Rangers ranked seventh in runs scored in the AL in 2009, but ranked 11th of 14 teams in batting average (.260) and 12th in on-base percentage (.320). There were concerns about the team’s approach, particularly how often the Rangers swung at first pitches and put themselves in unfavorable hitting counts.
Sounds like the perfect guy for us.

Context, people. More context is good. Less context is bad. If you're willing to be reductive, then you're willing to be wrong.

Has he won a batting title before?
I know you nerds know NOTHING about the real game of baseball, or any other athletic endeavor requiring teamwork under physical stress.

Rudy isn't a hackerist...
Most of the underperformers in Dallas were newish to the league/team, and already had the I-need-show’em-what-I-got attitude. He still did quite nicely with Andrus, Murphy, and Borbon, among others. Kinsler’s off year is still one of the best 2b productions I can think of. His long list of reclamation projects that benefitted from increased plate discipline (Byrd, DeRosa, Bradley) bely the insinuation on pitch-counts.
