Took a trip to Boston
in 2004. Had to go to Fenway of course, and the Devil Rays were in town. Since Baldelli is from nearby RI, the fans totally love the guy. Ought to be good year for the him, if his health holds up. Used as a fourth or fifth OF he might do OK. Hard to believe he’s only 27.

Can we trade Russ Ortiz for Chipper when he Braves are 15 games back in June?
Castillo got the DFA. Guestimate for Castillo DFA to come before the 2009 season = 2.

Good that Baldelli made it back from that really scary health stuff. Although FUX is sure to piss all over his great comeback story, like they did with Josh Hamilton.
"While conservatives tell you 'leave things alone and no one will lose,' and liberals tell you 'interfere a lot and no one will lose,' baseball says 'someone will lose.' Not only says it - but insists upon it! ... Democracy is lovely, but baseball's more mature." BVCE supports SF Dugout and Manny Burriss.

I’ve always liked Baldelli. I remember picking him up in fantasy when he was called up. I remember reading a story once that said he could have gone pro in more than 1 sport.

“You.. you.. you remember when you were with The Beatles?”
“You.. you remember when you went to Japan.. and, uh, and at the airport they arrested you ’cause you had some pot, and.. it made all the papers, and everything..?”
“You remember when you were with The Beatles, and you were supposed to be dead, and, uh, there was all these clues, that, like, uh, you played some song backwards, and it’d say, like, "Paul Is Dead”, and, uh, everyone thought that you were dead? That was, um, a hoax, right?"
“Uh.. remember when you were in The Beatles? And, um, you did that album Abbey Road, and at the very end of the song, it would.. the song goes, "And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make”? You.. you remember that?"

This is interesting , on the heels of the Johnson/Blanks breakup.
How much did Smoltz want and how much did Atlanta “disrespect” him with?

Hmmm…strangeness. I have no idea why Firefox wouldn’t like that site.
Anyway, the Braves offer was something like 3 million guaranteed plus 2 million for staying on the big league roster for 60 days. It also contained about 7 million in performance and incentive bonuses.

One wonders - well , I do , anyway...
…how Smoltz would have fared if Johnson hadn’t just gone to the mat with the Blanks – because the home team offers are eerily similar.
