About midway down the page Nick Cafrado quote's an "MLB Spokesman", Pat Courtney as saying that teams are allowed to sign up to 9 Type A or Type B Free Agents.

There had been a little discussion concerning whether or not the Giants could continue to sign free agents as they had already signed 4. Not sure how definitive this source is but it helps to shed a little light.

Thanks for the fanshot

I had been wondering if clarification would ever come on this.

The 2008-2009 offseason is driving me sane!

I'm not sure that really qualifies as clarification

but I have always thought this free agent quota thing was bullshit

It Isn't And Never Was Bullshit

The quota on the number of type A/B free agents any one team can sign is just limited by the total number of free agents including non type A/Bs available as opposed to the total number of type A/B free agents available. If it was the later as Bhaakon and I first thought then the limit this year would indeed be four but since it is the former the limit is 9 but there is indeed a limit.

Indeed.
