Manny not into SF; Swisher comes up again
Ken Rosenthal: "Ramirez also is cool to the idea of playing in San Francisco, according to one source. The cool weather in the city and pitcher-friendly qualities of AT&T Park is a turnoff to other free-agent hitters as well."
Well, if that's actually part of Manny's thinking, it's quite foolish. AT&T would likely be a hitter's park for someone like him. Of course, this is most likely just more posturing to get top dollar. Is there really a language these people understand, other than $$$?
Re: Swisher- I keep thinking it would be nice to get him, but the trade pieces might be difficult.

I'm "cool" to the idea of Manny playing in SF as well
Manny and I think alike, apparently. I’d much rather have Swisher than Manny or Nady, even though I’ve been down on Swish for most of his career. His clutch hitting makes him such a nice fit for the Giants at 1b. If we concluded this offseason with an acquisition like this, even the most rabid Sabean-hater would have to admit that this was a succesful offseason.

Good Offseason
I think its a good offseason I just wish they had done this 2 years ago. Sit on their hands and wait for true top shelf talent that they want for a good price. Better late than never I guess.

yeah, a .219 hitter is definitely better than a guy who hit close to .400 in carrying a team to a divisional title. Yeah, I know that Manny isn’t THAT good, but he’s about as good as it gets, while Swisher might be the most overrated player in the history of McCovey Chronicles. I wish the Giants had more hitters that can draw walks, but that’s pretty much the only thing Swisher is good for, unless you like low batting averages and 135 strikeouts a season.

most overrated player in the history of McCovey Chronicles
I thought that was Jonathan Sanchez.

It’s frustrating when people look at a player’s batting average for one season and use that as the sole indicator of the guy’s abilities.

Once Again, Manny Being Manny Is Manny Being Stupid
This could drive away his only other suiter besides the Dodgers. This could thus kill his leverage in negoiating with the Dodgers. Manny letting this out is about as dumb a move as Manny has ever made.

Kind of funny
That Chavez Ravine is perceived as less of a hitter’s park than ATT, since they’re essentially identical (at least, unless you consider handedness, which favors Manny anyway).
Probably all posturing, though.

not that funny or surprising anyway
statistically they’re similar but for nearly 50 years Dodger Stadium was the ultimate pitchers park and this is just writers, fans and baseball men collectively being slow to let go of an obsolete piece of conventional wisdom. It happens.

Actually, I made a little typo there
Dodger stadium seems to be seen as MORE of a hitter’s park than ATT.

well it almost has been since they shrank the foul territory there.

according to a "source"
Give me a break with these unnamed sources already. Is it the same source that said that CC Sabathia didn’t want to play in New York, and that Mark Texeira was going to sign with Boston?? Perhaps it’s the same source that said that Rafael Furcal had signed with the Braves.
