Crazy Manny/Barry Thought
What if the Giants actually do steal Manny from the Dodgers, Barry Bonds is aquitted in March, and the Dodgers respond by signing Barry? This would sure make for one hell of an interesting season fighting for the NL West Crown.

Barry would just be alienating the only fans he has. But I wonder how the LA fans would recieve him if he were a Dodger?

It Was The Giants That Kicked Barry To The Curve
How can any rational Giants Fan take it out against him if the Dodgers become the only team willing to sign him?
Juan Marichal ended his Career at a Dodger and has been forgiven. Jeff Kent will end up forgiven too. So will Barry if he plays for the Dodgers.
All that said, my pie in the sky desire is for the opposite. I want the Dodgers to sign Manny and for the Giants to then re-sign Barry and "BEAT LA" for the NL West Crown.

Barry...
Barry is going to be jobless, again. I think Dodger fans would still boo Barry mercilessly even if he wore Dodger Blue

They Would Boo When His Name Is Announced But They Would Cheer Wildly Every HR Or RBI Hit
The would boo most when he is walked and it wouldn’t be he they would be booing.

The Dodgers signing Barry would be like the Giants hiring Lasorda to be the Head coach.
Chaos would ensue.

Really?
Watched too much football this weekend. I am sure you know what I meant.
But to reciprocate being a stickler for specifics, A manager is pretty much the same thing as a head coach.

Lars, Lars, Lars
You told me Pablo Sandoval was not hurt and was resting for the Venezeulan league playoffs. His team didn’t even make the playoffs!! Can I officially start worrying about Pablo now??

Possibly he signed a contract that expired prior to the hoiidays. Sandoval has played the 2008 season then played some winter ball so he probably would like to rest up some prior to the 2009 season. Sandoval is not the best that Venezuela has to offer.
EME also seems to have shut it down prior to his team’s season is over.

Barry just had hip surgery doubt he will be playing. If he wasn’t signed to play last year, what makes anyone think anyone will sign him next year?
I’d welcome a Manny deal. Either one really. 3 years at 63 isn’t terrible. And the 4 year one will likely have some options that enable the Giants to release him.
by Hobbes2d on Jan 5, 2009 12:49 AM PST reply actions 0 recs
it would probably be a team option with a huge buyout. I’ll bet Manny hits .360 with 40 homeruns in that third year to make sure the Giants guarantee the fourth.
