50 worst announcers in sports today - Yahoo!
For the most part, these are all national acts, so I expected to see the Joe's (Buck and Morgan) and the killer B's (Berman and Brenamann). Joe Buck's pompous ass should be WAY higher on this list IMO. I am counting the days until his schthick grows old and he has to take a lesser job.
My hate list:
Football: Pam Ward makes me watch the early NCAA football games on mute. She constantly gets distracted when finishing her thoughts, and makes the game almost secondary for some reason.
Baseball: Hawk Harrrelson is the AL loser, and the I'll Mark Grant as the NL loser. Both are disasters.
Kudos to Matt Vasgersian for leaving the Padres...his homeristic calls now go national thanks to his MLB Network promotion.

He deserves to die in a very painful and lingering manner.

Not only that, but I want to stand over his grave when they’re putting him in, and say “he gone!!” like he does everytime a player on the other team strikes out.

pretty good list
they definitely have the right guy at #1 and they seem to cover most of the “deserving” people. I would have moved Screamin A. Shit up to #2 and Skip Clueless to #3, I can at least put up with Berman, Morgan, and Tony Kornholer, but when either of those two come on the screen I pull a muscle reaching for the remote.

The author seems to count boring him is a bigger "sin". To me the top of this real should about people that make you consider eugenitics even though you strongly morally oppose the idea.

If you follow the link to their list of the 50 best announcers, you’ll come upon this travesty.
"he walked 18; new league record! Struck out 18, another new league record! He also hit the sportswriter, the PA announcer, the bull mascot twice..."

Miller looks strung out in his pic, but yes that is a huge travesty.

But the list needs moar Lesley Visser.
"While conservatives tell you 'leave things alone and no one will lose,' and liberals tell you 'interfere a lot and no one will lose,' baseball says 'someone will lose.' Not only says it - but insists upon it! ... Democracy is lovely, but baseball's more mature." BVCE supports SF Dugout and Manny Burriss.

There’s a whole bunch of guys who made the top 50 and worst 50. That makes no sense to a simple caveman like me.

Actually, most golf announcers belong on this list. Judy Rankin ergs me too.

Haven't heard all of these guys
But all of them I have heard can pass for baseball announcers if they’re just background noise and you aren’t paying attention. You can’t do that with Ted Lightner. He should be high on this list, even though he’s regional.
Also, there should be a women’s category, for Jeanie Zelasco, etc. Women announcers bring sports ratings down. TV execs, who aren’t usually sports watchers, if you get my drift, think that if women are announcing, more women will watch sports. Women watch sports because men watch sports and men who watch sports dig women who watch sports. But men who watch sports don’t watch as often if they think the sports broadcasts are being geared toward women.
Women should be announcers for sports in which women are actually contestants. Women announcers will tell you that’s discriminatory because no one watches (outside of Olympics figure skating, and a few other things) women’s sports.
With their argument, I rest my case.

IDNAWTA
Some random misplacements on the list
-I would rank Gus Johnson in my top 10 favorites. He makes every game more exciting to watch.
-How is Emmit Smith not in the top 10? He makes a living off of making Steve Young continually confused at Emmitt’s “analysis”
-Buck & McCarver ought to be #1 & #2. It’s baffling that fox would put the two of them together year after excruciating year.
-Even though he’s not an announcer, I’d stick Lou Holtz in the top 20 for his analysts role. How can anyone take him seriously anymore? I start laughing every time he talks!
STEVE HOLM! refuses to be the odd man out.
