'02 Series highlights
It looks like the MLB network will show highlights from 2002 this evening at 9pm, and again at midnight. I know: weird for a Series that was cancelled, right?

Oh God, it's all happening again!
I sure hope they get around to replaying more regular season games, so in the off-chance they do show the Giants, you can watch without the impending sense of doom.

It's funny that they had a championship series during spring training that year

It is just a shame that meteor crashed right into Angels Stadium in the 7th inning and wiped out all life within 50 miles of the impact.
Now we’ll never know how it turned out.

I Tivo'd it
Just watch the parts where the Giants are winning. It’s a good show. The interviews are interesting and you get to see Barry Bonds crushing baseballs again. There’s also an incident involving JT Snow and the kid of some moron who let him wander onto the field.

I was watching a bit of the highlights of game three, and it was definitely a funny feeling. You see Bengie Molina get an RBI hit off of Livan Hernandez and just for a second you want to clap, and then you catch yourself and say, “Fuck you, Bengie!!”

I had the same feeling. I also remembered how much I hate Troy Glaus.

Right after these highlights
they show clips of my parents getting hit by a train. Maybe I’ll watch that as well.

How unfortunate that they have that on video.
The baseball thing, I mean. The train thing probably looks pretty cool on video. Except maybe not to you.

/hopes desperately that stevieg’s parent’s did not actually get hit by a train, because then I would feel like a huge jackass.

Man Did Barry Hit That Ball
It’s worth watching just for that HR that Barry hits off of KRod to make it 4-0 in game six. If they had just waited for that ball to come down before they continued that game, they might have just finished that game yesterday. The lead -in to that HR was great. Dusty Baker is calling KRod “nasty” and they then say who else to take him down but the nastiest hitter on the planet. Then Barry puts it in orbit.

No, my parents weren't hit by a train.
Bonds hit that home run directly over my head. At the time I thought it was the ultimate signature to a record-setting playoff performance. I will now kick a puppy.

I think this is good for us
I think we can’t deny it anymore. I think we have to accept it. It happened. We lost. Now let’s move on. Sure, watching it again might not be necessary, but knowing it happened, being reminded of it, that’s ok. We need to go through the mourning and come out better for it. I think I have. Yeah I’ve seen us lose two WS’s in my lifetime and win none, but I will. I believe that. I will see the Giants win it all. And having seen them lose two will make it that much sweeter when they do win.

You have me thinking...
which is never a good thing.
We should find a way to have everyone Game #That-which-shall-not-be-mentioned at the same time, and have a cathartic, yelling, screaming, weeping a game day thread to go along with it.
Maybe hire a shaman or two for some heavy curse lifting as well.

But can I do all that stuff and still pretend that it didn’t happen? I like pretending.
