Looks like Sabean is keeping busy over the holidays.

I wouldn't be mad about a 1 year deal but I'm not sure how much it would help this team.

If healthy, Crede will provide decent defense and some pop. If it’s a one year deal, I wouldn’t mind.

agreed. and more importantly will move Pablo to first.

Where he’ll get to split one half of a platoon with Travis Ishikawa? Doesn’t sound very awesome to me.

/quietly hopes he got his platoon knowledge right.

My Dave Righetti is better than your Dave Righetti.

Better hitter= Pablo
Both left handed hitters
Sorry Ishi…..

The better hitter last year was Pablo, but it would be kind of insane to believe that we have any particularly good idea what either of those guys is actually capable of. Sandoval’s sample size was mouth-wateringly small and Ishikawa’s two-faced “I suck! No wait, I’m good! No, wait…” is just a little too weird to make me feel confident about saying anything.

My Dave Righetti is better than your Dave Righetti.

Actually...

Sandoval switch hits.

I the more likely scenario would be Pablo moves to C when Benjie sits against tough RHP and Travis can play 1st. Ishi could also be a pinch-hitter defensive replacement.

Or, as noted below, Benjie could be traded and Pablo could move to C. Like others, I think Pablo is more valuable as a C or 3B.

yeah, they can’t platoon.

IMO, Pablo’s not much better a hitter than Ishi, if he’s not playing a tougher position my enthusiasm wanes quite a bit.

We don't really have that much pitching depth. We don't really have that much pitching depth. FOR GOD SAKE, VERUCA, DON'T GO FAKE TRADING JONATHAN SANCHEZ. We don't really have that much pitching depth

how is that “awesome”?

My idea of awesome would include two pitchers we have and none of our position players. So getting Crede would also not be “awesome”

or

we can trade Bengie and move Pablo to catcher

Heh
Huhh? Typical Sabean. He’s turning into a poor-man’s Al Davis. Get the name, forget the age/stats/production. See Randy Johnson, Edgar Renteria signings. Giants fans can tolerate a losing team with a plan more than this band-aid approach of turning the team over every year. Give us something to believe in, Sabes.

That’s what you get when people don’t take the time to look at the details of a contract. Short terms deals aren’t going to cripple this team’s development, considering most of our young talent is at least a season or two away.

I'm not sold on Crede yet

but it’s nice to read a rumor about a 3b who can actually play defense, for once.

sign me up for Crede

considering the other options are ridiculous trades of Jonathan Sanchez for bad defensive third basemen, Crede is a no brainer. Wigginton is the other option, but he seems to want alot more money and years. If Crede can be had for a one year deal, with maybe a second year option based on him being healthy, why wouldn’t you do that??

Reminds of the old joke.

The Giants looked at his medicals and appear to be the most likely landing spot.

It was just mentioned in the middle of this article, and I don’t know how much info heyman really has, so I doubt much has actually happened yet.
