I know Cain sucks but it’d be nice to see him not walk 12 batters tonight.

So, yeah, I was thinking the same thing as you guys.

But it’s especially true of guys like Maholm.

here's the thing..

..the Giants are in a huge tie for 4th-worst record in the majors in the win column. Yeah, the three worst are running away with it, but even in a weak draft class (and 2009 looks weak), the #4 pick is a much better bet than #10. So right now, we want Cain to look good, get pulled early, and the ’pen to blow it.

Heck, if it were me I would shoot for the #4, then pick whatever name on the board looked the most like this year’s Aaron Crow. Then you get #4A in 2010, which is unlikely to be as weak a draft as 2009.

So, I hate to say it, but I wouldn’t mind a nice losing streak right about here.

The teams we’re tied with are the Pirates and the Royals – and the Royals are up 3-0! A loss today and we’re all alone for the #4 pick! And the Nationals are clearly too cheap for Strasburg and maybe the Padres are too and the Mariners are stupid! So exciting OMG!!!!!

I'd be happy to win Timmy's starts

and lose everythign else the rest of the way. maybe lose one of timmy’s starts on a blown save. That should put us up to the top 2 or 3 with an outside shot at 1. I think it is very possible one of the three teams will have a hot streak and fall back while another goes dead cold the rest of the way.

And it’s weird because there’s no apparent reason to believe Gillaspie is ready, and this will start his arbitration timetable and options way ahead of schedule.

wow this is one of the worst line-ups of the year

by kingofthacove on Sep 6, 2008 5:44 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Here 'tis

1) Randy Winn LF
2) Ivan Ochoa 2B
3) Rich Aurilia 3B
4) Bengie Molina C
5) Scott McClain 1B
6) Aaron Rowand CF
7) Nate Schierholtz RF
8) Emmanuel Burriss SS
9) Matt Cain P

There are a couple of ways they could’ve made it worse – like starting Roberts instead of Schierholtz, or Vizquel instead of Burriss. But yeah.

Putting Ochoa at #2 instead of Burriss is all kinds of WTF. Last I checked, .354 OPS > .287 OPS.

Operation Strasburg update!

The Royals held on to win, so in four innings we will likely be in sole possession of the fourth pick!!! The Mariners are down 1-0, but it’s only the third; if they come back to win and we hold on to the loss, we’ll only be 4 games out of the #3 pick. SO EXCITING BABY!!!
